If you can get it, Amazon Fresh Solid White Albacore Tuna [amazon.com] is only 89 cents a can, and it's pretty good.

It seemingly goes in and out of stock randomly, unfortunately. But it's worth checking the listing every week or so to see if it's available. You can get 10 cans for around $8 via S&S discount shipped, which is a pretty decent price IMO...

Looking at the ingredients, I would personally take the one without pyrophosphates for the $.45 more.

Phosphates or whatchamacallits never occurred to me embarrassingly. I just know the Amazon Fresh Solid White Albacore is packed tight with solid chunks, with very little water or smell, and tastes good to me. So tasty, in fact, I can eat it right from the can.

Then again, if you're going to be that finicky and fancy, perhaps an 89-cent can of tuna is not for you. To each their own, I guess...

Oh for sure, everyone is entitled to buy whatever they want and like. I just know that pyrophosphates contribute to calcium deposits in the body, so it seems a small price to pay to not risk it personally.

I just found some time to do a modicum of quick half-ars research [livestrong.com] on pyrophosphates and it appears your concerns are legit; sorry for being somewhat of a snarky jerk.

It appears consuming pyrophosphates in excessive amounts will leach calcium from your bones and make them brittle. However, you can counteract this deleterious effect by making sure you have a decent source of calcium in your diet, such as milk, yogurt, and cheese.

I was wondering why Amazon's Fresh Solid Tuna looked so fresh compared to other major brands; it must be the pyrophosphates Amazon uses as a preservative.

I still say that Amazon Fresh Solid Tuna [amazon.com] is remarkably good and tasty though; it's packed so tight and solid that I have a hard time removing it from the can. Regardless, thanks for enlightening me on pyrophosphates; it's appreciated.

It's the amount of Mercury in Tuna you need to pay attention to.
