Plugged in, the Taylor will sound a bit better with the ES2. The LR Baggs Element has no business in a Gibson. I would drop an Anthem or Lyric in it personally. I have an Anthem SL in my Hummingbird and a Lyric in my Guild D25 and F40. Both pickups crush the ES2. One thing of note is that the J45 is made in Montana and the 214 is made in Mexico.
I feel caveats are in order... I'm a strummer and cross picker that plays mostly electric. Finger pickers may prefer the 214 for its treble and upper mid-range clarity.
If you're looking for a slope shoulder, you should take a look at the Eastman E10SS or E20SS in the varnish finish. They can hold their own with a non-studio J45.
