ST/TF/TW unlocks require a plan purchase. So you can no longer activate a new TF branded phone on an existing plan and get it unlocked. This is a new unlock policy since July 2024. The wording "This deal is good for existing straighttalk customers." is not entirely true if the idea is to unlock on an existing plan.

You can disable anything in Android with adb. Also realizing that most people don't know this but once you disable Device Pulse and Mobile Services on TF branded Androids, you will no longer get auto-installed bloatware. I disable these before connecting to WiFi.

Even as a "power user" I don't care about unlocking the bootloader if it takes 2 minutes to disable the two bloatware packages. I noticed that TF also stopped using the TF splash screen, at least on the midrange Androids, which gets rid of another reason to load the stock ROM.

It will unlock on day 61 after activation. It only requires initial service activation, no renewals needed. It should unlock automatically remotely when connected to wifi.

This phone is fragile. I got a 2023 one and I sold it on eBay after 1 month of usage. It is awesome for the convenience of carrying it.

Ordered one direct from ST using 30% CB
I can confirm the 30% CB. It didn't show up in the browser extension, but I received it later in an email.

Getting Android phones in ST/TW is not worth, Not able to reset the mobile complete as bootloader is locked, you cant reinstall Official Moto Android OS make as official Moto Phone. You need to use along with ST/TW bloatware apps and even if you disable or force stop those apps still you will get annoying notifications "Package failed"etc etc Better go with IOS which are free from bloatware.

Is that have to be done during set up?

No, you download a program on your computer and can do it whenever.

After you get to the home screen, turn off WiFi, then disable those apps.

Phone is $99.99 with one month plan at Cricket Wireless with port in. Black or Orange color. 6 month unlock policy.
Looks like $30 + $180 for 3 months of service on their website now.

BTW the appearance of Slickdeals just changed for me to the modern look, anyone know how to change it back to the old appearance?

It's automatically unlocked on day 61 or I need to call in to request unlock? Also does any plan on Straight Talk work in 2025?
