are there any reputable sites that you can pay to have the phone unlocked?
Costs too much. Cheaper to activate on the $25 nationwide straightsavings plan for one month. It will unlock automatically on day 61.

Minimum plan is $25. (Nationwide Straight Savings) I know the math is off but it is still less.

I can confirm the 30% CB. It didn't show up in the browser extension, but I received it later in an email.
CB Comparison is showing nothing close to that at any site. Has it expired?

Looks like $30 + $180 for 3 months of service on their website now.

BTW the appearance of Slickdeals just changed for me to the modern look, anyone know how to change it back to the old appearance?
no, it's one month and not 3 months to get the phone. Total is $159.99 with plan. That's the port in price.

This one [walmart.com] ?

Is this a True 5G phone? One of my international SIM works on Pixel but not on Tracfone 5G phone, so for $199+tax+$25 and 31 days wait, it could be ideal solution for that.

Never mind. I've used that one before but I just found out it can't be used to activate new service. Everything I see says it's 5G.

Amazing deal man I'm tempted to get Mr Mobile's little clicks keyboard with it at this price. For 300 bucks you could have this thing and turn it into a de facto blackberry. And because the front screen doesn't need to be used on a digital keyboard ... I didn't think the clicks accessory made much sense on these mammoth phones like the iPhone 15 pro Max or whatever but it's almost two sensible on the flippables.

It wasn't particularly interested in flips or the clicks keyboard but combination of these reduced prices makes me seriously want both.

All of that said I do not need a new phone. The only way I could justify this would be if I sold some of my existing tech. I have too many toys as it is techwise

yes but you get to use a relatively cheap plan for 6 months
Compared to straight talk it's relatively expensive actually. MetroPCS at a pretty significant price hike. Even if you wanted to use MetroPCS I'd still feel better about having an unlocked phone using MetroPCS and having the freedom to change if you need to.

I did this last Thursday. It came to $256 after taxes and fees in California. I, perhaps uniquely, don't need the service. I just want the phone. My OnePlus 9pro is losing support this year so this price seems acceptable for a one year old phone. Hopefully I can sell my old phone to make this cheaper.

ST/TF/TW unlocks require a plan purchase. So you can no longer activate a new TF branded phone on an existing plan and get it unlocked. This is a new unlock policy since July 2024. The wording "This deal is good for existing straighttalk customers." is not entirely true if the idea is to unlock on an existing plan.
I see the following in their unlocking policy page.

"For cellphones Activated with new service on the Verizon network on or after November 23, 2021, at least sixty (60) days must have elapsed since the cellphone was activated."

Source: https://www.tfwunlockpolicy.com

Notice how they sneaked in the word "new" in there.

I bought this for my wife, she didn't care for it. I tried it and loved it. I was using a OnePlus 12 and don't noticed any difference. But, I'm not a game player which may be a deal breaker for some.

Do you know if it's possible to buy this phone and activate it on a TF $15 plan. Would it still unlock in 60 days.
In my experience, if it's a ST phone, it has to be activated on ST to be eligible for unlocking.

I'm not 100% sure but I thought some were successful in activating a ST phone with TF. I don't know what the exact process is.
