I wish I could find something like this w/ an x86 processor. I'm not opposed to ARM for most tasks, but I'm currently in College and it seems like a lot of the coursework has programs that will require an x86 processor.

Those Linux drivers are for weird servers that are ARM based, not intended for consumer use. Any consumer use is solely incidental.
Just stop it. The X Elite/Plus will not work - under windows - with an eGPU. Yes, Nvidia makes Linux drivers (which are horrible - just ask Linux people) and does backport some gaming related bug fixes, but that's about it. Things barely, barely work in supported situations, let alone eGPU setups - something those drivers were never intended for.
