Assuming we're not going to get $20 deal this year or deal with gift card. Might hold out for another week or two, but starting not too feel optimistic

After playing the H&R/Newegg pricing games for the past 3-4 years and waiting for a better deal to come this year, I finally gave up and went to FreeTaxUSA. Most likely will never go back to H&R.

FTUsa cost me $15 total for federal and state - and unlike H*R, there was no additional state e-file fees (my situation includes W2, stock sale, retirement, HSA's, etc.). Interface is just as intuitive as H&R or TurboTax.

Can Free Tax USA import brokerage transactions from E*Trade? Can't find it in their help files.
This is probably the most requested feature for FTUSA and it's not supported unfortunately. HOWEVER, you don't have to enter all your trades individually since the IRS already gets a copy of your 1099. You can aggregate long term and short term capital gains. FreeTax does not have direct download of tax statements from brokerages. Just for the heck of it I did my taxes with FreeTax. I have a lot of brokerage transactions and entering them all by hand sucked and was confusing. The interface is not intuitive for all but the simplest tax situations. Also you have to input a credit card before you can even access your finished IRS return. That is where I quit. H&R is a much better straight forward system with much better hand holding. Hand holding in FreeTax is almost non existent unless you pay extra for it IMO.

I just went to the make an offer option for the individual programs. I offered New Egg $20 for Deluxe + State and New Egg accepted the offer. I may have been able to get it cheaper but was okay with paying $20 + tax.
Nice. $20 wasn't accepted for me.

I'm self employed and plan to fill myself this year instead of using a CPA. How easy to do it in freetaxUSA? Any comments?

Where do you find the "Make and offer" option? I don't see it.

It has to be for the non-combo version, currently at $49 ($59 reg price).

Some products show it in the app. Left of add to cart button.

It's not on the bundle deal. You have to go directly to the individual tax software pages.

Yeah, I did it a few days ago before this bundle came out. That might be the reason it wasn't accepted b/c they already offer a similar one for a similar price.

I made the offer on the $39.99 one the other day, https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16832732202, but the make an offer isn't available now because it says it can only be purchased as a combo. That wasn't necessary when I made the offer.
