How much do they charge for state efile ?
Efile is still $19.99. That isn't part of the price to buy the program though. That is just an added option and payment to file it electronically and that option never goes away.

I ordered and followed the instructions to enter my email and download, but it didn't download. Tried several times and nothing. Tried the link from the email they sent me and got the following. Anybody have the same issues?

what is with all the freetaxusa mentinoned here? are these sales people for ftaxusa? i dont see any other mentions like direct file, free file or any other tax software. Seems a bit fishy
Quote from spocko :
I just discovered Direct File. I appears to be an IRS program that allows free federal and state filing if you live in one of 25 states that are currently supported, and meet other criteria.

https://directfile.irs.gov/
https://www.irs.gov/filing/irs-di...e-for-free

I don't really know anything about it, but seems legit and worth exploring.

If anyone here has used it before, please share about your experience with it.
I've used directfile for my parents since their income levels fall within the proper ranges.

I can't use directfile since my income is too high.

FTUSA would work, although I prefer to go with one of the more established names this time around especially because of a property purchase. Want to make sure I get my hand held this time around and TT and H&R have good explanations on their programs.

I haven't used HR in years since FIdelity used to give me free TT for the past several years but not this year. Alas

The guidance is comparable to TurboTax and Block. Possibly even better.

I used to do the HRB before as well, but we have 2 LLCs (mine and my wife's). HRB said they supported all the forms I needed and then when I entered the second business, they basically said that I have to manually calculate my QBI (Qualified Business Income Deduction) for two businesses. Why are you telling me to compute something on a COMPUTER. Morons...

For that reason, I tried FTU (FreeTaxUSA) and was impressed. Not only did they do everything I needed without question, but it was just as easy as HRB... and cost FAR less.

Screw you HRB... FTU FTW!
Thanks. Interesting 😶
Have been using HRB since post-COVID but this is the first year I have an LLC too.

Freetaxusa with state e-file is the closest thing to free available for me, and I see no reason to spend more for H&R Block or TT.
