Seems like you can get 40 oz for $6 on Amazon [amazon.com] as well. Thanks for the tip regardless; I might cancel my order in light of this new information. That's the beauty of S&S; you can buy immediately and cancel weeks later before your monthly shipment without consequence.

I thought it was clear that I was exaggerating to make a point, but I guess not.

BTW, your numbers are off in regards to this deal, as retail table salt is <50 cents a pound vs this deal at $5.95 /lb. (Math is hard) There are much cheaper options (as you note, you can often find in the $2 range), so I didn't consider this to be much of a deal.

The point was that pink salt, which is just salt with trace minerals/compounds left without further processing, sells for a premium that isn't really justified. But if you find a difference in the taste, or prefer the additional trace amounts of minerals for the cost, go for it. Personally, I'd only use it the presentation aspect.
Morton Table salt sells for $1.80 for the fairly standard 1lbs 10oz container that most people probably buy. I suppose if you want to buy in bulk you will pay less.

Where did I specify the salt in this deal is $2/lbs, I said "Himalayan salt" can be purchased fo $2-$3 a pound (reading is hard too).

And yes, it was clear that you were using hyperbole to make a point, however the amount of exaggerating was pointless.

You might spend $5 a year for standard table salt vs. $10 for something like this. That is hardly much of a "premium" for a more natural, less processed product, without additional additives.

There's no significant difference between this type of salt and other salt, you're overpaying for nothing.

I'm assuming the flavor profile is slightly different due to the iron it contains (which is where the color comes from). I can also imagine that the pink hue is both attractive and appealing for culinary presentations.

Regardless, I decided to go with the 40 oz for $6 deal [amazon.com] I previously posted in this thread, as it seems like a better bang for the buck. Thanks to everyone who shared alternate prices for comparison; it's appreciated.

Yeah, I always buy it in 1 or 2 pound bags. BIG savings. I love the "price per ounce" feature on Amazon.

TJ Maxx, et al. is the other option. Those places usually have a selection of various brands in 2/3lbs bags for under $6.

I suppose if you just use this as a finish seasoning, it would last a while, but at the bulk prices, I use this type for for my all-purpose salt (dump it in pasta water, etc.). I would go through 6oz pretty quickly.

I've never had a caking issue (in Florida), as long I keep most in the resealable bag.
I've had a few clumps in one bag but they always broke up easy.

How do you use this salt? Does it taste and use just like typical table salt?
If you put regular table salt on your tongue it can kinda burn but Himalayan pink salt doesn't do that.
It tastes like salt yes and some people who don't like table salt or ocean sea salt, love Himalayan pink salt.
I don't know if they are craving the minerals (like women crave chocolate when they need magnesium).
