Folks in Phoenix AZ, beaware..these did not survive the summers, got 4 sets when they went on clearance in store for 15 each.. each set wont work after the second summer. The metal set is all good.. the lsolar lights as such is a waste and goner.. jusy trashed them this Summer..they might be good for other places but not too hot places..

No. I Like solar. I also like to change designs or move them to where I want them. I have gutter lights from Home Depot that stay lit until 6 AM/ I lined my entire fence with them and they light up my entire side yard.

. And in the southern sun, nothing lasts anyway, from patio umbrellas to paint on cars. So disposable is easier to swap out

Looks like you can throw any rechargeable AA in there... the ones in the box are 1100mah nimh... are there better options for longevity? testing it with some crummy 2000mah amazon rechargeables... better options for the weather elements?

The pathway lights are solid. Had them out all last summer and through the winter and they are going strong. Good amount of light, they've impressed me for solar and they've withstood my kids stepping on and otherwise messing with them.

I live in Southeast Tennessee. LED low voltage lights with metal housing powered by a small transformer plugged into an outdoor outlet have lasted more than 5 years and still going strong. You can buy a set with everything you need for a basic install for less than $200. Solar lights suck by comparison.

its costco... ill just bring them broken pieces 5 years later and hopefully get my $ back

feedback: so far both the bollards and the pathway lights are working well, last whole night... bollards are a little higher color temp and whiter, and are also significantly dimmer than the pathway lights... bollards are good for minimal light so you dont fall on your face, more for backyard & decorative...

re: temperature... im in phx, these are crazy hot at 95 degrees... i cant imagine the internals will survive when its 160+ direct sunlight in august

Batteries are replaceable on these and the replacements are affordable. Please don't throw them away, just replace the batteries.

Not for Seattle area. So sad. They wont work more than 180 days.
I have the pathway lights, using them in Seattle for over 2 years now. I love them so much I bought a second set. They don't last all night in the winter but that's because we practically get no sun, but in the summer these last very long given our long daylight hours.

The issue with these is often that the batteries are shipped with minimal charge and they aren't high capacity to begin with, so they can ship with wear on them.

There's also no way for you to easily top them up when you get them, so you're stuck in a pattern of the batteries operating at minimal efficiency.

There are tons of ways to improve them, depending on how much you want to tinker. Some have removable batteries that are easy to swap.

What would be ideal would be one that lets you plug in a cheap battery bank via USB. That way, you can use whatever capacity you want and also charge it more reliably.
The batteries are removable. I charged the LiFePO 14500 in my Vapcell S4+ charger before putting them in. Or, you can wait for summer when the days are longer and put them in at sunrise. You should get close to a full charge if the lights are in the sun all day.
