Oris isn't a fashion watch everything else you said though spot on.

Very few watches will appreciate in value, and those all pretty much have a wait time, and or no discount.

Note that this is the previous version of Oris Divers Sixty-Five. The new one comes with a ceramic bezel, see-through case back and 200m water resistance.

For the folks calling this a "fashion" or "discount" watch, it's ok if you've never heard of Oris - not everyone has. No need to fabricate your knowledge about it. Save up for your Rolex.
Oris is not a fashion brand but there's no way any Oris will appreciate. Even most Omega's, ALS, Zenith, etc depreciate. Mid/entry level Swiss watches are not an investment.

I got the Grey dial with bracelet last month with the same price. It's a stunning watch with a lot of history. Very well made.

Sorry, but this is irrelevant to whether this Oris deal is slick. (And many of us would rather have a genuine Oris than a fake Rolex…)
Slick? mentioned in the 18 posts.

I miss the old SD.

Wish this code, or a similar code, was available for the Aquis 400. Unrealistic to expect that watch for $995 obv, but a few hundred bucks off their current price would be nice.

Why are people calling this a fashion watch? The fact that it's not ISO certified has nothing to do with it being, or not being, a fashion watch. A fashion watch is a watch that is licensed by a clothing designer and for fashion. So a Michael Kors or an Armani watch. They're almost always Quartz and made in China. This is a Swiss made watch with in-house movement. There is a whole world in between Rolex and Timex apparently a lot of people are unaware lol. I would put this in the entry level luxury category. Somewhere between Tissot and Tudor, which are also both Swiss watches.

My "fashion watch" comment turned out to be quite controversial. What I meant was that this is a Swiss watch you buy because you like its looks—maybe even its technology—but not because you want to store value on your wrist. There's nothing wrong with that, but it's different from a luxury watch that, at best, appreciates in value.

I just checked Watchmaxx: the most expensive ORIS costs $6,500, which is a significant amount but still on the lower end for a Swiss watch. If you look at Baume & Mercier, their prices go up to $20,000. B&M also offers $1,000 entry-level pieces that could be considered "fashion watches," but overall, the brand positions itself above ORIS. So even luxury watchmakers have "fashion" models.

One last comment: I wouldn't view Rolex negatively or as something entirely different. Their entry-level pieces start at around $4,000–$5,000, which isn't drastically different from ORIS. Granted, at that price, you'd likely be looking at a 6–10-year-old model, possibly slightly vintage. But chances are, you could get your money back relatively easily if needed—a bit like the difference between Android phones and iPhones.

Edit: Up to 2k, I'd suggest to look at Tudor - it's the same company, but basically the economy class version of Rolex. They are relatively price stable too, although harder to sell.

To even bring up appreciating assets in a watch deal thread is pretty ridiculous. Also, Tudor watches are not up to $2000. The ones you're seeing on Jomashop at that price hold their value about as well as this watch. This Oris is a heritage design, and is comparable to Tudor watches in terms of case and bracelet build quality (maybe not the movement). I think this is a great deal, but to address your point, nobody spending this much money on a watch is looking to make it an investment. Get this if you want a nice watch that you'll be able to give to a friend or pass down to future generations without having to spend tons of money (relatively).

It absolutely is a divers style fashion watch. Nobody actually dives with these. They're purely cosmetic items.
Anybody dives with a Rolex Submariner? Or every diver is using a diver computer nowadays Smilie

I don't understand the hate: There are many misconceptions about Swiss watches. I explained my point of view. Maybe not you, but somebody else learned something. You don't have to like it, or not even agree - but why so aggressive. As well, I don't see where we disagree.

On behalf of the entire slickdeals community, we thank you for teaching us about the value of Rolex and Tudor watches on a deals website. I'll be sure to post about buying meme coins on MetaMask in the next high yield savings account deal.

I don't get it, for once: Tudor is available on the same sale, starting at $1.600 - in my opinion the better deal. Secondly, I just tried to illustrate that the $2.400 sticker price of the ORIS is not accurate, some might say overblown. As well, I pointed out that if you look for a watch with better long-term value, you should consider at used Rolex watches. That's it. I am not saying it's a bad watch.

To your point, the Tudor 1926's are appealing and might end up being a better investment (if you're silly enough to think of watches in this price range as assets), but can be found at the same price on Joma all the time.

What makes this deal unique is that nobody is selling the Divers 65 for $1000 right now, so this is an actual deal with them being ~$400 off. The Tudors they have don't have any additional discount and are essentially at market price.

The cheapest Tudor diver on their website is $3500. I want whatever you're smoking.
