Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

A summary of what happened for me that may help others.

Costco member who has had two lines since Sprint days. Kickstart v2 and Unlimited On Us from 2020. Switched to TI just before merger, so it was $30 total since merger.

Did NOT get a text or email that we were being hit by $5 increase, but when I logged into the account it was there. $5 added to Kickstart line. $5 added to Unlimited On Us line BUT credit for that line increased to $35, thus keeping it free. Bottom line : 2 lines $35.

This weekend I called Costco T-Mobile 833 number. Said I wanted to port in my son's US Mobile number (Verizon network) to the free line deal.

The Costco rep put me on hold for quite a while, 10 minutes or more to talk to a T-Mobile rep.

She came back and said we can't add Kickstart lines, but the T-Mobile rep told me that I can add it as a standard line and then when we're all done, they can help change the SOC code on their end to Kickstart.

I was told that porting in a new line to account gets me a $75 Costco shop card, but no VISA card, those are only for port in of a postpaid line from a T-Mobile competitor. MVNO and Prepaid do not qualify.

She went ahead and created a new account with a temporary number. She pushed the number via eSIM (our preference), then ported our old number onto that line. Took maybe 10 minutes for the port to show up while she did other things. When she was done she got the T-Mobile customer service rep back on the line and they changed the SOC on the back end.

Whole call took a little over one hour, and now I have 1 paid line and 2 free lines for a total of $35 a month.

Can't beat it.
Scratch everything I wrote. They're telling me since I only had one paid line I didn't qualify for this offer.

This despite pushing this offer to me in TLife and TWO agents telling me I qualified. Chatted with T Force now to see if there's anything they can do for me besides cancelling the line. Can't lose my ported number.

I have two lines not listed under my service promo screen. These lines are under my service promo screen:
Line Discount ID230405-BOGO on device plan that ends 1-26
Line Discount ID200008-free
Line Discount ID200011-free
Line Discount ID230405-BOGO on device plan that ends 1-26
Line Discount ID200012-free
Line Discount ID180002-FREE with 2 paid lines? I think?
Line Discount ID200006-free
I'm not 100% sure but I think these are what the line discount codes are based off of internet searches. I think I'm basically paying for 3 lines and 6 are free? I got the free line offer a few days ago so I was thinking of getting it (I'd be at 10 lines) and then I can cancel my 2 lines that are bogo in January so I will be back at only 2 paid lines. Would that work?
Yes, after 1 year, you can cancel lines without terminating your new free line promo. There are a few free line promos that require 4 paid lines (excluding BOGO), but since you are currently at 2 paid lines (excluding BOGO), I doubt you will be affected by that restriction.

I'm scared to confirm with a tbmobile agent which one's are free because I don't like them looking at my account and seeing all the free ones lol.
Self Service Instructions [reddit.com] manageaccount and promotions-experience packages have all the data and settings for your plan, so you can parse through them to find which line has which promotion. Additionally, you get to see all the data T-mobile transmit about your account, regardless on the visibility to the typical end user.

Also I've already switched over to the 9-12 line plan so if I get the free one and drop the 2 lines that are bogo I will have 8 lines. Would that put my plan back on the under 9 or will it always stay 9-12 now? Thanks!
The system won't automatically change your plan when you cancel, but the agent who is helping you probably will downgrade your plan to 2-8 SOC. You will have to specifically request them not to downgrade, but that may be confusing to them since why should you pay for 9+ SOC without 9 lines (free line credit isn't publicized),

I was able to switch from the 8 to 9 line One plan with this deal through t-force. Is there a way to see if they correctly applied all my old discounts? I'm not seeing the insider discount anywhere yet.

Not "some accounts". KB on free lines doesn't do anything if you have up to 8 lines. However, if you have 9+ lines KB does absolutely generate even for free lines that are below 2GB.

The SOC code isn't automatic. I have a 9 line plan (TIULMF9), and the 9th line (a free line from 2021) doesn't have kickback.

However, when I added two lines (which I ported out to Total during their byebye deal), the rep added kickback to those lines when I asked (for shits and giggles), and they did appear in the bill. However, most reps in general won't do it for me.

I just added the 10th line...these free line are great for reducing the bill by $10 each ...

So I have two questions.

1. I'm currently at magenta 1.0 with 3 paid + 5 free lines and total cost is $112 with insider hook up and autopay. It looks like if I jump on this deal even if the line isn't free I'll pay less because I'll move from 8 line $20/line credit to 9 line $30/line credit which will come out to $100 credit vs $150 credit?

2. Did anyone add line through the app and get the deal applied automatically?

thanks. Since i have an account already, can i still somehow get it afterwards? I have a 9 line account and 8 paid
highly unlikely. insider codes are for new accounts only. i did read it somewhere that tmobile messed up some guys account so bad that he had to go through tmobile executive team for solution and they added insider code for him as courtesy. as always, its YMMV

How the f did all of you get all those free lines? I have two paid voice lines + for one hotspot line ($10/mo) and don't need an additional line but is there any way I get my monthly cost down?
Currently Magenta 55+ plan and I'm paying $88.50 with autopay

On r/tmobile, there are rumors of a second free line promotion. Started 5 hours ago, see here [reddit.com] and here [reddit.com]. u/rjohnson76401 claims to have redeemed both promos. No one has responded with the promo id yet.

This promo offer comes via text, check your messages from or containing 833-579-2247

Magenta 1.0. 2 paid lines. 4 free.
3/13 - called in evening for free line promo. Was not on my T Life app. $10 for physical SIM card.
3/15 - ad shows up on T Life app. Email saying SIM card shipped.
3/17 - finally got text message with line ID250259. Phone number and promotion shows up on account. Sweet 5th free line!
Does the promo only show up on the Service Promotions page? Or does it also show up under Account -> Cost Details?

You didn't manage to get anything reinstated. What happened is that you were on the 2-8 line plan and they had to move you to the 9-12 line plan in order to add a line. When that happens the system automatically un-enrolls you from all promotions and then within minutes re-enrolls you again. No discounts are lost and you may likely see a bill reduction by switching to the 9-12 line plan.
Hi, I have almost same situation. I just called after seeing the promo on Tlife to add a free line, upon checking, the rep said that I qualified fir the free line, although I already have many free lines. I am on Magenta 1.0, currently have 8 lines with insider discount, ( $96 per month, increase $5 last year from the last round price hike) The rep told me that he had to upgrade me to a 9 line plan by adding this free line, I am still on Magenta 1.0 and nothing will be changed. After the call, I noticed that I received several text messages saying I I was unenrolled from my current promotion. After reading this post , I am really worried if my current plan was messed up due to adding this line. Also from reading your reply, it looks like the system will adjust itself , at the end of the day I won't pay more than before? Please see my situation and let me know if there 's anything I need to worry about? or if I need to call them to remove the free line and restore my plan to the original one. Many thanks for your help.

My MagMax account also got messed up when I added a free 9th line a few years ago. I was also unenrolled from all promotions. I finally had someone redo my account manually with promotions. I ended up paying less in the process, 96 from 136. Magenta plans were still the flagship plans back then though, i dont know if they will do that for these "outdated" plans now. Just call and follow through.

I can't guarantee it of course but I did the same thing fairly recently and didn't lose a single discount even after getting un-enrolled from them.

Found some more info on promo ID250259 from my account data on T-mobile.com. There is more info available, but not really useful to anyone without T-mobile VPN access or code dictionary.

Name: Line Discount ID250259
Start Date: 2025-03-13
End Date: 2025-03-26
Initiation Date: 2025-03-17

So this promotion ends on the 26th. T-mobile also tracks the promotion initiation date, which was the 17th for me (date that the line was created, several days after I ordered the physical SIM).

If you are getting this promotion close to the end date 26th, order with ESIM activation. With physical SIM, you are risking your promotion initiation date starting after the promotion end date. Not sure if the system cares, but it tracks the dates so why risk it. You can always convert your ESIM to physical SIM later.

I'm on the One Plan with Plus Promo with 4 paid and 5 free. Didn't get the promo in the app. I have an insider discount and kickback on all lines eligible.

What's the census.. are most getting it anyway by calling messaging and just asking or not worth the risk of some rep screwing things up? I get very leary nowadays.

Unfortunately, my bill will be going up $20 for the 4 paid lines.
I'm at 11 lines on ONE and did not get the text, but I'm thinking of just adding a line by myself and see what happens. If I don't get the promo in about a week, then will request a "No Install" so they can remove it without charge.
