Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

A summary of what happened for me that may help others.

Costco member who has had two lines since Sprint days. Kickstart v2 and Unlimited On Us from 2020. Switched to TI just before merger, so it was $30 total since merger.

Did NOT get a text or email that we were being hit by $5 increase, but when I logged into the account it was there. $5 added to Kickstart line. $5 added to Unlimited On Us line BUT credit for that line increased to $35, thus keeping it free. Bottom line : 2 lines $35.

This weekend I called Costco T-Mobile 833 number. Said I wanted to port in my son's US Mobile number (Verizon network) to the free line deal.

The Costco rep put me on hold for quite a while, 10 minutes or more to talk to a T-Mobile rep.

She came back and said we can't add Kickstart lines, but the T-Mobile rep told me that I can add it as a standard line and then when we're all done, they can help change the SOC code on their end to Kickstart.

I was told that porting in a new line to account gets me a $75 Costco shop card, but no VISA card, those are only for port in of a postpaid line from a T-Mobile competitor. MVNO and Prepaid do not qualify.

She went ahead and created a new account with a temporary number. She pushed the number via eSIM (our preference), then ported our old number onto that line. Took maybe 10 minutes for the port to show up while she did other things. When she was done she got the T-Mobile customer service rep back on the line and they changed the SOC on the back end.

Whole call took a little over one hour, and now I have 1 paid line and 2 free lines for a total of $35 a month.

Can't beat it.

So if I forget, and sell the phone, will that person once they activate the phone, have the line on my account?
just log in the acct and change sim for that phone.

SIM finally arrived, put in my iphone, got a number assigned. Didn't receive any message, however when I login https://www.t-mobile.com/account/promotions , got this note under the new line:
Line Discount ID250259
Enrolled
I believe this free line was added correctly.
My new line also appeared and I see Line Discount ID250259 under the same Promotions page. But when I go to Account -> Cost Details, I do not see the discount there and my overall price went up by $30.

For everyone who's in the same situation and can see 250259 on the Promotions page, does your discount also show up on the Cost Details page?

So, you're saying that if I didn't call to get it "corrected," I would potentially get the 6th line for free while keeping my other 5 free lines and the insider discount?
Deja vu. 4 days ago, this thread, Imsachan was panicking about the exact same thing. As coloradoman_in_socal explained, by unwinding the 9+ plan conversion, you unwound your ~$50 / month savings.

Well put. @HeatGun, if I were you, I would add a line to my plan again, free or not.

It's been over 36 hours for me and no shipping notification. Only emails are the terms and Your T-Mobile order payment has been processed
I registered for the free line promotion the day it was launched. I still have not received the physical SIM card, and no shipping info. However, today, the new line showed up on my account and I received the "Congrats on your new discount" text.

Same, ID250259 shows up in my T-mobile account --> Service Promos, but my plan details page do not have it. I'm not worried, T-mobile systems are disjointed so it'll work itself out eventually. I did take screenshots of the Service Promos page and I'll thoroughly review my upcoming bills.

Can you please help me out and DM me. I want to show T-Mobile that my family member lol has the same line and you can block out any personal info but just with the current promo code or whatever and any proof just cuz they're starting to really piss me off especially with the $5 price increase that I'm still going to file on FTC and FCC complaint with
you want to see all my free lines discount codes ?

I have two lines not listed under my service promo screen. These lines are under my service promo screen:
Line Discount ID230405-BOGO on device plan that ends 1-26
Line Discount ID200008-free
Line Discount ID200011-free
Line Discount ID230405-BOGO on device plan that ends 1-26
Line Discount ID200012-free
Line Discount ID180002-FREE with 2 paid lines? I think?
Line Discount ID200006-free
I'm not 100% sure but I think these are what the line discount codes are based off of internet searches. I think I'm basically paying for 3 lines and 6 are free? I got the free line offer a few days ago so I was thinking of getting it (I'd be at 10 lines) and then I can cancel my 2 lines that are bogo in January so I will be back at only 2 paid lines. Would that work? I'm scared to confirm with a tbmobile agent which one's are free because I don't like them looking at my account and seeing all the free ones lol. Also I've already switched over to the 9-12 line plan so if I get the free one and drop the 2 lines that are bogo I will have 8 lines. Would that put my plan back on the under 9 or will it always stay 9-12 now? Thanks!

They're all being jerks to me. Saying that I'm not eligible because I have more than two free lines and then I bring up the FCT and the FCC complaints I'm going to make and they just get even more pissed.

I'm paying for 3 lines and have 7 free lines.. I just got the text about the 7th free Line Discount ID250259..I checked my account and it's already showing , I receiving the sim tomorrow, I called late night, last Thursday..not sure if that makes a difference but it was an easy call..

I'm on the One Plan with Plus Promo with 4 paid and 5 free. Didn't get the promo in the app. I have an insider discount and kickback on all lines eligible.

What's the census.. are most getting it anyway by calling messaging and just asking or not worth the risk of some rep screwing things up? I get very leary nowadays.

Unfortunately, my bill will be going up $20 for the 4 paid lines.

For these free lines, can you upgrade your phones and take advantage of T-Mobile promotions: e.g trade-in promotions. If so, how long do I have to wait? I assume they don't let you upgrade right away.

Have not tried it with this line, but I've been able to take advantage of device promos including trade in credits, bogo, and payment plans on my other 3 free lines without issues

What do you think is there to screw up? You are already on the 9-12 line plan; SOC won't change if you add another line. Since you weren't offer the promotion, so you are going to play agent roulette. Even if you are lucky to get an agent to manually add the promo, the automated billing system may invalidate it at any time.

If you do end up getting it, the promo does position you to remove a paid line in a year to save some $.
