Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

Found some more info on promo ID250259 from my account data on T-mobile.com. There is more info available, but not really useful to anyone without T-mobile VPN access or code dictionary.

Name: Line Discount ID250259
Start Date: 2025-03-13
End Date: 2025-03-26
Initiation Date: 2025-03-17

So this promotion ends on the 26th. T-mobile also tracks the promotion initiation date, which was the 17th for me (date that the line was created, several days after I ordered the physical SIM).

If you are getting this promotion close to the end date 26th, order with ESIM activation. With physical SIM, you are risking your promotion initiation date starting after the promotion end date. Not sure if the system cares, but it tracks the dates so why risk it. You can always convert your ESIM to physical SIM later.

People said for the last free lines they have ordered physical sims and just let it sit in their drawers for months/years until they had a spare phone to attach it to. When the rep added my free line, the line showed up with a new phone number in my account 2 hours later along with the promo id and promo text. That was 3 days ago. Physical sim just showed up today. Don't have a spare phone right now to put it in but I assume it's activated already since I see the number in my account?

May I ask where exactly do you see this information in the TMobile account? thanks

I just got the text - "T-Mobile: Great news! To thank you for being one of our most valued customers, we're giving your family plan a free line (w/$10 connection charge). To ensure you don't miss out on this exclusive, limited time offer, call us now at 833-579-2247 to redeem. (Via bill credit; taxes/fees may be add'l.)"

I have 4 paid lines and 6 free lines on Magenta.

The SOC code isn't automatic. I have a 9 line plan (TIULMF9), and the 9th line (a free line from 2021) doesn't have kickback.

However, when I added two lines (which I ported out to Total during their byebye deal), the rep added kickback to those lines when I asked (for shits and giggles), and they did appear in the bill. However, most reps in general won't do it for me.

I just added the 10th line...these free line are great for reducing the bill by $10 each ...
Agreed, the KB SOC isn't automatic but it only works for free lines when on the 9-12 rate plan.

I need to ask you though, because it seems to be an impossibility for me to add the KB to my free lines. When was the last time you successfully had KB added "for shits and giggles"? Every single time I call and try, the agent tells me that they can't do it and that they need to forward a request to management, where it's obviously getting denied.

Thank you!

Dunno why you got your free line promotion added in hours when others including myself took days after ordering the physical SIM. But yeah, once it shows up in your account and your next couple of bills reflect the free line, it doesn't matter if you use the sim or not.

You can check Promotions --> Service Promos to see if ID250259 is in your account. If you want the hidden details, follow the Self Service Instructions in this post, specifically looking at the promotions-experience package.

For years I tried to get KB added to my last couple of lines. Always a no, it's a depreciated promotion or KB doesn't work on free lines.

By chance, 2 years ago, I had a really friendly offshore chat agent who was helping me with another problem. At the end, when they asked if there was anything else, I asked if they could copy the add-ons from one of my lines (One Plus Promo, International Charge Block, KB, etc.) to all of my lines. They agreed, applied a couple add-ons, and then asked if they could do this in their quiet hours since this was going to a take a while. No problem, I thanked them profusely, and ended the chat. Next day, I had KB on all my lines.

Going by my experience, I wouldn't call or chat in specifically to add KB. Butter up the agent when they solve your main problem, and when they ask if there is anything else, that is the time to ask. Also, instead of asking for specifically for KB, ask them just to make the add-ons the same across all the lines, using one of your lines as a template. Your chances will still probably be crap, but this was what worked for me.

Has anyone with the T-Mobile ONE plan successfully added both the new free line promo and the one from last week?

When I contacted T-Force for a different issue, I casually asked if I was eligible for the new promo (ID250259). They told me I'd need to activate two new lines to get a third one free.

I didn't receive a text about this promo, so I'm unsure how eligibility is determined.

Yeah been there done that a million times. Call for something else and then switch the conversation to KB. Nope. This is really frustrating because I have 3 lines on the account that hardly have any data usage and would yield me $30 extra each month but I can't get KB added if my life depended on it.

A rep suggested popping the SIM into a phone, making a call and sending a text to get it 'officially' activated. After that, you can just toss it in a drawer or whatever. I'd recommend doing the same, just to be safe.

Most people on Reddit who did the deal on Friday like I did also got the promo text within a few hours and could see the line on their account with the new phone number. And sim had shipped right away too.

The days following that I saw a lot more people not having the new number or line showing up in their accounts and sim not shipped yet either but reps were telling them the system is extremely backed up due to the offer.

It seems a lot of people are getting the line to show once the sim has been shipped or delivered. Some people who ordered over the weekend still haven't gotten the notif their sim has shipped at all. So it seems everyone's case is different.

So do I have to activate the sim somehow or does it come activated already if the new number is showing on my account?

They did exactly what was necessary. The messages are part of the process.

What's important to understand for you is that even when you add a paid line you will most likely still look at a lower bill, so don't get too hung up on the free line. Call, ask to open a new line and they will hopefully transfer your account to 9-12 again. If the added line happens to be free on top of that, your savings will be even greater.
T-Force rep was able to "add a free line" she said I was eligible. My plan now moved from FRLTULF2 to TIULFM9.
She said if I get bunch of "unenrolled from xx discounts" just disregard. All promos will be added back.
Lets see what happens now! I'll report back.

Nice job! Two things, first, you may want to call again and ask them to switch the plan SOC to FRLTULF9. It is generally understood over at Reddit that TIULFM9 is not compatible with Kickback, even when the Kickback feature is active on the line. Just call and ask them if they could put you on that SOC since that is the base plan you came from. I myself have FRLTULF9 and Kickback generates with that one. Some Redditors claim that Kickback works with TIULFM9 but those reports are in the gross minority.

Second, just so you know, if you made a plan change mid-bill cycle the following bill will most likely not show Kickback discounts, but that is a one-time issue and they will return after the first full bill cycle on the new plan. Just chat with them after you get the next bill and they will credit you manually that one time.

Congratulations. Your account should hopefully reflect all the old and hopefully the new promo by now. Even if the new line is not free, you will most likely pay less than before. Fingers crossed that it is though

Do I need to have a spare phone laying around in order to get the free line? Will they ask for a IMEI? Or can I get a SIM+Phone Number without having it tied to a phone when placing the order?

I asked the same rep change SOC, and no go, says its not available to change.
"Yes, your plan did change to TIULFM9. The plan FRLTULF9 isn't available to change to."
I guess at this point I'll wait and see if I get kickback discounts, if not then give a call. What is the best approach to have them to change rateplan? Can it be done at tmo store?
