Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

No. And to save yourself a lot of hassle, as someone who has less than 9 lines on their plan Kickback will not do a thing on your free lines.
It will help if you got to a 9L plan in future.

Ok, I think the T-force agent successfully added the free line for me today. Now I'm on 2 paid, 6 free.

Any tips on getting to the magic 9 number so that I can lower my bill?

i paid 10 dollars and got the SIM for the free line as Rep said, line is activated now but how come my account activity shows this ? is this normal? i do see the promo ID250259 under new line though..

New line XXXXXXXXXX was added to your account on 03/17/2025 at 12:55 PM . This line is on the Magenta (2 line) plan for $25.0 per month plus taxes and fees.

I called and the rep told me that this is for those who already have 2+ lines on their account. What kind of BS is this? I pay more than some people with 3-4 lines and yet those same people are getting extra, free lines added to their accounts while I get nothing??

This is the way it has always worked. All free line offers for years have required two paid lines minimum.

There are some people with 10 free lines, 2 paid.

Nice job! Two things, first, you may want to call again and ask them to switch the plan SOC to FRLTULF9. It is generally understood over at Reddit that TIULFM9 is not compatible with Kickback, even when the Kickback feature is active on the line. Just call and ask them if they could put you on that SOC since that is the base plan you came from. I myself have FRLTULF9 and Kickback generates with that one. Some Redditors claim that Kickback works with TIULFM9 but those reports are in the gross minority.

Second, just so you know, if you made a plan change mid-bill cycle the following bill will most likely not show Kickback discounts, but that is a one-time issue and they will return after the first full bill cycle on the new plan. Just chat with them after you get the next bill and they will credit you manually that one time.

Congratulations. Your account should hopefully reflect all the old and hopefully the new promo by now. Even if the new line is not free, you will most likely pay less than before. Fingers crossed that it is though
i see the promo ID250259 under the new line , under promotions. i just received another text from tmobile for a free line. are they give 2 free lines under the same promo?

He needs to port out to an MVNO first and then you port the number back in but yes, generally possible.

As you quoted coloradoman_in_socal, you need to be on the 9+ plan for kickback to be effective on free lines.

For your second question, most phones now comes with dual SIM cards, with one or both of them being eSIM. Just set your eSIM to be the free line, and set your phone to only use the free line for data. Call and text can still set to your primary line. Then use all the data you want and still get kickback on your paid lines cause you used 0 bytes.
I have 3 paid and 5 free lines, if i add one more free line ( 2nd one, i just got the text ) it will 9 lines. Will the kickback start automatically or do i need to call and ask for Kickback? appreciate the help.

How long do we have to wait for him to port back in to keep his number and override my free line?
