Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

Sorry if asked before but could the sim for the free line be used in a broadband modem like this?

So I tried:

Calling the number in the app.
T-Mobile chat via T-life app
T-Mobile chat via facebook.

All told me to pound dirt because I have more than 2 free lines. Honestly now sure how you guys manage to get a free line if you already have 2.

Why are you telling people this? Of course TMO knows exactly what device you are using your SIM card in, it goes by the IMEI. They know when you use a voice line on a tablet or in an LTE/5G modem. And if you use too much data they will cut you off or cancel the line.

Use at your own risk.

Was it a free F&F (Friends & Family) On Us?
No, it was the last free line offer I believe, that was offered in March 2021. 2021 Line On Us 6, later renamed as "Line Discount ID210004"

You are violating the TOS by putting a voice line SIM into a data device. Be creative. Best possible outcome would be if they just canceled the line.

just use sim on non-tmobile tablet you'll be fine. T-Mobile will treat it as byod unknow device.

Apparently I missed that. I made an internet faux pas. Thank goodness you were there to point out the error of my ways 🙄

This was at the bottom of the emailed agreement :

"You will be charged a one-time Assisted Support charge of $30 per line of Service."

Did anyone get charged?

Was charged $10, which is what the promo indicated, he wouldn't fetch a number and ship pSim without the charge processed. After about 3 hours dealing with me, I didn't mind paying...if it had been $30, I'd feel different.
