Called into T-Mobile today because I got a text saying my plan is increasing by $5/line since my older T-Mobile One plan has been the same price for 8 years. The rep told me that there is a targeted offer available to some older plans that started today 3/13/25. Bring your own device and get a free line. I had to pay $10 for a sim card, but they were able to credit me $10 to my account.

Worth a try to call in if you have an older plan. YMMV.

It has been established by now that agents may say this but the billing system does not seem to enforce that limitation. What you could do is contact T-Force and ask to add a line. Not a free line, just a line, but you want to keep your plan. They will then (hopefully) move you from the 2-8 plan to the 9-12 line plan. What this does is it will increase your free line credits and hopefully lower your bill.

Base price for 9 lines of Magenta Max is $370 after price increase. Each free line yields you $35 in credits. So if the newly added line is not free then you will still have 5 free lines which yield you a discount of $175. Additionally, your Insider will give you another $74 for a grand total of $121. If the newly added line is in fact free (and the billing system will do this automatically, no need to ask agent for a free line) then you'd be looking at 6 free lines. Math here would be $370 - $210 (free lines) - $74 (Insider) = $86.

So you see, it doesn't really matter if the next line is free or not. You'd still be saving money. If the newly added line is free you will receive a text message congratulating you on promotion ID250259.
Woah thank you sir! This is a lot whole new calculation that I never new. I will try to contact T-Force and add a line (not free line) and take it from there like you said. Much appreciate for explaining this to me! Thank you again!

GO5G MILITARY PLAN here, 2 voice lines plus one watch line with tax & auto pay included is $102.

Had to switch to that from Magenta Military plan, and had to cancel my 3rd voice line due to $15 monthly increase on my 3 voice line. I was paying the same $102 for 3 voice and one watch line.

Report back please. If they proceed you will get a series of text messages telling you that you've been un-enrolled from all your current promotions - that's normal and no reason to freak or to call TMO again. It'll sort itself out on its own. Good luck

I tried two times, but the third time worked.
The first two reps (over chat on T-Life), they were by the book, and I wasn't qualified since I opened two lines already outside 14 days.
The last rep, he was able to give me a free line, but he worked around it. He said he needs to open a BYOD line, then apply a discount on that line, so at the end of the day it's free service line. I received this promotion back in 2023, and they have set it up like this as well.
So don't give up, if they're going by the book! I been with T-Mobile for over a decade, so they valued that and made a special deal for me.

This is what happened to me back in 2023. I had 8 lines, and in order for them to add another free line, is to convert me to the 9-12 line, and like i mentioned above. they add me a line, then apply a discount promotion to make it free. Now, they just did the same thing. so I am currently maxed at 12 lines.

I got the free line tile in the app and tried adding a line in the app and it's not giving me the option to order a sim. It's asking me for an IMEI to activate via esim as the only option. If I use a browser and log into my account that way it gives an option to add a line with a physical sim but not in the TLife app.
It shouldn't matter if you order through T-Life or your web account. If you are segmented for the promo then you will automatically get enrolled.

I am on the old One Plan with plus, hookup, and 4 paid and 5 free lines. Didn't get anything in the app for the main line about adding another "free line."

Would adding another line also lower the bill like you stated with the newer plan?

Unfortunately, I did get the text about the $5 line increase.

Worth the risk of calling or chat via app to try to add the line? We all know reps are basically useless and will say anything. Best way to go about it? Call and ask if the promo shows on my segment?

No. You're already at 9 lines. The billing mode changes only coming from 2-8 lines. You would really only add a line and if the promo is not segmented on your account, it would be $35 per month extra on top of the price increase.

I ordered the physical SIM for a free line but provided all the info to port in the number. I activated the SIM but it's a random number. Do I have to contact them again for a number change?

I added the free line and I have three paid lines on my account. I was told that the three paid lines need to be kept active for a year. Does that mean in a year I can cancel one of the paid lines and keep the free one and be paying for two lines instead of three?

Any deals for a new iPhone 16 model with no device trade-in required? I thought I saw one of those a few months ago, but I was still stuck in a contract at that time.

IMEI wasn't required..they will ask whether you want an eSIM or pSIM.
