sharing this info for I was looking it up myself

11th gen introduced in 2025, 6gb of ram w/ the A16 chip
10th gen introduced in 2022, 4gb of ram w/ the A14 chip
_9th gen introduced in 2021, 3gb of ram w/ the A13 chip
_8th gen introduced in 2020, 3gb of ram w/ the A12 chip
_7th gen introduced in 2019, 3gb of ram w/ the A10 chip
_6th gen introduced in 2018, 2gb of ram w/ the A10 chip

I was looking up this new models ram for my 2021 9th gen is long in the tooth with only 3gb of ram. Works great for some things struggles with others. For this price I may be upgrading soon.

(was also considering some of the 8" androids with 8gb of ram for $150 to $300 depending on which model)

Any computer or tablet will ship with two types of memories: RAM and storage. Most people refer to RAM when they say memory. This tablet ships with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of storage.

RAM stands for random access memory and is used when the device is doing work. A device with less RAM tends to be slower. This iPad has 6GB of RAM. The current top of the line iPad pros ship with 8GB of RAM for the 256GB/512GB versions and 16GB of RAM for the 1TB/2TB versions. I think 6GB RAM for this version is definitely sufficient for non pro tasks. The previous entry level iPad (10th gen iPad) had 4GB of RAM.

Storage is what is used to keep your data on the device. This includes pictures, videos, movies, music, apps, the OS, and other things. I think 128GB of storage is plenty for a tablet. If you need more storage, you could use iCloud, keep your extra data on a USB C flash drive, or buy the version with more storage (256GB for $427 on Amazon).

In short, I think this tablet's specs are sufficient for the average user.

A 35 dollar discount on a 350 make it affordable to all?

Or do not want to pay for an air or pro to the do the exact same non productive things on.

Consumption devices. No bother benefit other than some perceived status. Still polo around with a slower workflow than using a computer. The MacBook air for small form computing. These things are just used for consumption by the majority of people. This unit is perfect for that.

Not an apple fan, but this one is good price in comparison to the Samsung tablets.

But for most, ipad 9 is fast and responsive enough. I still use a 6th gen sometimes, quite usable.

Apple is trying hard to gain market share these days with 'low' entry price on good specs. It sure will attract non-apple users.

Is there a good keyboard case for this iPad that doesn't cost $100+ but also doesn't feel like typing on ATM keys?

Not enough memory to do much with these days tbh. Updates will eat that up right away. But d steer clear of it unless you absolutely have to have it at that price. I have on with this much ram that I got about 8 years ago. It's full.
You're talking about storage (SSD) and not memory (RAM). I'm using a 32 GB iPad and I find that that's not quite enough for me, but 128 GB sounds like plenty. I just use mine for movies/games while on planes and web browsing while traveling. I'd guess that a lot of iPads are bought for the same reason.

A 10% discount on a JUST RELEASED Apple device from a quality seller feels like a deal. Honestly even at full price this iPad is a strong value.

10% discount on a newly released IPad is not bad. In the old days, it was rare to see Apple products with a discount. But within the past 5+ yrs, it seems they go on sale regularly. Unless someone needs/wants this newer version now, I can see it going under $300 by Prime Day or Black Friday.

Just picked up a iPad air 5th Gen at Walmart for 300 (but only 64gb storage) , not sure how important memory is for me. Should I get this instead?

I use an android Samsung tablet when traveling so I can put a lot of media on it. This would mostly be used at home.
The 5th gen is more powerful than this iPad, and it comes with a bunch of better things like a laminated display and actual Apple Pencil support, so if you think storage is a tradeoff, buy this but I'd say keep the Air

Thanks, that's what it seems like, but it's a hassle because sometimes they get separated like you pick up the ipad and go to another room watch something, and you forget where you put the keyboard, and then sometimes you want to use a mouse (does iPad support mouse for browsing?) so I was hoping there should be a decent on, otherwise I might go like that and buy a keyboard with a trackpad, or one of those thinkpad keyboards with trackpoint.
