These (26GB) are EXOS Enterprise drives not the crappy non-Pro Barracudas like the 20-24TB models with only 1-year warranty. Seagate doesn't make a 26TB Barracuda.

I ordered one, says it'll arrive Thursday. I'll update this post with what I find inside.

Edit: ST26000DM000 mfg date 02/2025. Seagate website indicates the serial # on the drive is a Barracuda w/ 1yr warranty. Oh well, looks like the days of discount exos are gone, and I'll be returning this one.

I can't return it. Best buy has a 14 day policy and it started crapping at out at the 20 day mark. I have to contact seagate who is hilariously bad.
Fwiw I've done a bunch of rma with Seagate and it's been super smooth and simple. Just create the case yourself, don't call in.

There's a 1 year manufacturer warranty. If you are unable to figure out how to call on the warranty can't really help though.

26TB? That's like having an entire data center at home!

Someone convince me on why I need this. I don't need but I feel like I should need it
Look into the world of Data Hording. Do you buy digital copies of movies? Current rulings state that you don't actually "own" them, just have an indefinite time you can rent.
There's also projects and concepts like creating your own private cloud, 1-2-3 backup for your data, etc. Also, like everyone in this thread is waiting for, if it's an Exos drive then it's a ~$400 drive in disguise.

1 year warranty? Yikes
It's okay, Seagate don't really honor their warranties anymore anyways. Their RMA centers would just look for some BS excuse to deny you.

You can try a credit card extended warranty too
the "best bet" (pun of BB) is to make sure you want to keep the drive within 14 days of the return period.
way less hassle than going thru warranty replacement.

Schrodingers Harddrive
This is Seagates new quantum storage Harddrive.. It's not a EXOS or a Barracuda, It's there new Schrodinger line. It is both a EXOS and a Barracuda until someone shucks one.
I'm curious if this was an intentional nod to the fact that Quantum (a major HD manufacturer long ago) was bought by Maxtor, which was bought by Seagate?

Do they accept return for opened item within 14 days?

Why is it showing $350 when I add it to cart for checkout?

Not sure, but i'm willing to bet the deceptive website did it. When you "add to cart" the first time with the yellow button, a side bar opens up that has the same yellow button saying "add to cart" but it is trying to sell you a $49.99 replacement plan from geek squad. the correct button is below that is in blue and says "go to cart".

I keep trying to post a link to a pic but SD seems to be blocking the img tags.

Did they pay for return label and ship it to you for free?

I am also deathly afraid I'm going to be shipped a barracuda drive, not an EXOS drive that I scored. It's the only reason I bought it.

I definitely wanted to keep the drive within 14 days. The failure happened at the 20 day mark Frown

Wasn't that back in the Iomega Zip Drive days. Big Grin
