These (26GB) are EXOS Enterprise drives not the crappy non-Pro Barracudas like the 20-24TB models with only 1-year warranty. Seagate doesn't make a 26TB Barracuda.
I ordered one, says it'll arrive Thursday. I'll update this post with what I find inside.
Edit: ST26000DM000 mfg date 02/2025. Seagate website indicates the serial # on the drive is a Barracuda w/ 1yr warranty. Oh well, looks like the days of discount exos are gone, and I'll be returning this one.
Has anyone confirmed if it's exo vs barracuda yet?
I haven't seen anyone confirm one or the other yet. I am picking mine up after work tomorrow and will post whatever I can determine if nobody else does. I'm hoping for exos.
Every drive that I've ever had fail has been a Seagate. Have they fixed their garbage yet? I've got two 3TB barracudas and a 1TB in the closet that all died without any warning. Just stopped being recognized in Windows or did the dreaded click click…nothing. If these externals are Exos maybe they're better?
I have western digital drives that are 10 years old still going strong. WD elements 8TB has been reliable too.
If these are Exos maybe worth the risk. Hopefully someone can confirm.
Fwiw I've done a bunch of rma with Seagate and it's been super smooth and simple. Just create the case yourself, don't call in.
I actually did that last summer on a red drive, and they lost track of my drive. When I had to check up on it after a month of no progress, they eventually responded with "it was tampered with" (which is total made-up bullshit, and their way of telling me to f-off). Years ago, I had no problems with their RMA.
I had a chance to purchase this hours before the thread was even posted, but I decided not to due to the whole funky Exos vs. Barracuda lottery that Seagate makes you play.
In fact, I posted the deal in this thread hours before the deal officially surfaced. My Cheap Basterd sense is telling me that someone from that thread saw my post and committed hard drive cuckolding! 😂
Seriously though, that post had some good info about why you should be hesitant to purchase the 26TB drive, as most likely you'll end up receiving a crappy Barracuda IMO...

You realize how easy things are to return, right? If they're not exos, I'll return.
Better to buy before it's OOS than wait and miss out.
