I do not know how the government can tax the majority of consumer products (imports) without resulting in the slowing of economic activity. I hope we all do well, time will tell

As far as a deal... this is it. With 8GB and a SD695, it is the slowest you want to go and still have a decent Android experience. This tablet is on par with the G99 (same speed as the SD695) Chinese tablets and is also on par with price. And having updates is a big deal with Android so I say it is a deal. This tablet can do almost everything... just not that well. Games will not be able to be played at the highest settings but they will play. My only app recommendation is to download the app... "killapps" and run it every time you start your tablet. I have this app on every one of my devices and find it helps. Also, try not to keep to many internet tabs and apps opened at the same time. I like using a very good add blocker, I use ublock origion which just got banned from the google store with Kiwi browser. There was some talk above about the ipad mini... if you want the 8.4" form factor I would suggest getting the iplay 60 mini turbo by alldocube... sells for about 140ish on aliexpress. It has a IPS panel vs the A9+ TFT panel, it has usb 3.1 (that does HDMI out, BIG DEAL) vs the A9+ usb 2.0 and the iplay has a snapdragon 6 gen 1 CPU/GPU which is like 30% faster, both have 8GB of RAM and 128GB hard drive and micro SD slot. I personally prefer the 8.4" form factor and have the iplay 60 mini turbo and love it. I also have Tab S9 (gave to my kid) and a Chromebook Lenovo Duet 5 but it only has 4GB, so I use killapps on this device all the time. And with my Chromebook I sideload ublock origin and use it with Chrome.
Hello again. Seeing your iplay 60 reply on a tablet thread is always a sure bet. Probably as sure as seeing a PS5 question on any external SSD thread.

You can't really compare a ipad to a android tablet. IMHO, the ipad will win every time.
And you want to compare a ipad to the bottom of the line Android tablet... this is really not a fair comparison. I love Android and Microsoft because it allows the user to do what the hell the user wants.
Interesting take, because I don't think the iPad I have (10th gen for $200) wins against this (8GB for $155) in price/value context, I've only used this device a few hours yesterday for setup, some web browsing (even capable of watching twitch via browser), and even playing some game (Marvel Contest of Champions) that I usually play on my iPhone 16 Pro - not a single hiccup as far as I can see.

The apple store genius told me that apple products get 6+ years of support until they're unsupported. Sure, I bet the iPad will last that long - and even a few years being unsupported. In that respect, androids do suck. So if you're playing the longevity game, even at $300, the iPad does win. But again, for my use-case (of web browsing), $155 for this that'll last 3 years supported and another year or two unsupported, I'll count it as a win.

There is a new tablet that I really like alot.
It is called... Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7" (2025). But you need tobuy the Chinese Version and sideload the play store. SPECS.... Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 12.7 2025 Tablet MTK Dimensity 8300 LPDDR5x 128GB 256GB GPS 144Hz 10200mAh 45W Charging WIFI Tab PC
And it sells for $285 (8GB/128) on Aliexpress from the Lenovo Store. or $350 for (12GB/256GB).
Here is an article to read if you are interested in the Lenovo...

WIthout a doubt Apple updates will last longer then Android. 10th Gen Ipad uses the Apple A14 Bionic chip which is like 3 times faster then the SD695.
Yes RAM is important but the CPU is more important. Plus apple is designed to run better with less RAM. Apple is the better product.
Where Apple may falter is the screen (the A9+ screen can not compare the the ipad).
I use unethical websites all the time. Apple may have some of them blocked. I download software from unethical sites and side load it... this is much harder to find and to do with a apple product. I find the best add blocker around is ublock origin designed as a Chrome Addon and with Kiwi I can use it on a Android. So Android has best of both worlds... full Chrome (kiwi browser) and Android itself.
What Android is lacking is security updates unless you get them from Google itself (own a google tablet) you will never be truly up to date.

I bought it, nice inexpensive little device as a gift for someone else, I purchased it thinking i could use it on desktop mode/ second monitor but the feature it's only available the S models. MSRP suggests it should compete with the most basic IPad not even close the only app you need to open its the camera app to see where Samsung cut corners on this device starting with the display to the poor quality camera. It runs diablo immortal /game, spend 349 on the apple side or buy a used tablet with more features and better screen. 160$ should be the MSRP for this device. I like the USBC port so i can charge it with my dock and program my IOT devices with it with the help of various apps... Overall not for me but I will use it with my usb oscilloscope until I gift it

Simple: if your dollar is worth more you can buy more imported stuff!
Anyone who works in the US especially in US production facility (call center, tech, accountant, batista, salon....) will notice prices of local products&staples become cheaper as their paycheck gets bigger (through increased local consumption and production + tax cuts and/or stimulus)

If spending money caused inflation then SAVINGS/Making money reduces it !

This is 100% incorrect, I'm not going to get political here. But you should read some books on how the economy works.

It may sound funny but I think it is worth every penny. REAL Updates, no bloatware (or very little), faster, better screen, ect...
And because it was such a flop (initially way to expensive for what you get), google announced they will drop the pixel tablet line up for now... and that is why it is discounted to 280.

Recently moved from iPad to this.

it is better. Youtube is better. Instagram has an actual tablet mode. The book cover is way better than the smartfolio.

And mine is not even the 8gb version, it is the 4gb. After modding/tweaking it is flawless
What tweak did you do?

I got 5 of these free through metro 🤪 new tablet. Waited a week and moved all lines to 5$ plan then.. In 3 months I'll cancel so I paid 175 for 5 tablets...

They are the piece of crap 4gb but for kids or to give away its a good deal.
I did something similar. Free + $20 plan for each of the 4GB variant. I plan to let the plan expire after the first month. Why did you move the lines to $5 plan for 3 months? Is there a penalty or issues unlocking the tablet if I let the plan expire after the first month?

there is a chance Metro could ban you from promotions, I actually called and moved 2 lines to unlimited tablet line for 10$ each, so for 2 dollars i have 2 tablets always internet and cancel the other 3 at 5$ after 3 months

i am planning to keep those two lines so my bill is 4 x100 + 20 = 6 lines for 120 not the best but not bad.
