I'm assuming this has plastic tubing on the inside for the hot water? Trying to limit my exposure of plastic with hot water lately so trying to be more informed before purchases.

I side-graded from the Breville Barista express (8 years old) to this one which was given to me as an unsolicited gift. I've tried them both side by side and I think I am pretty representative of your average user.

The Breville was really hard to get decent espresso out of at first, and by decent espresso I am just saying that it is comparable enough to a coffee shop for me to not have the daily desire to skip it and go out and get a $5 latte. Once I bought fresh beans from a roaster that were under 1 month old I got it humming pretty well. It was a pain to figure out grind size, tamping pressure, etc to the point where I went through a couple pounds of beans before I got there. I could never quite get the steam wand to produce quality frothed milk, so we ended up buying a separate frother for that purpose. Can't say whether that is user error or the machine, but either way it's not easy.

I've used the Ninja with the same bean type, and it took way more pulls than the 3 they advertised to get it dialed in, but far less than the 1lb+ it took on the Breville. I'm a big fan of the cold-pressed for iced coffee and the milk frother system is top notch. Perfect milk every time, including cold foam, with no learning curve at all since it's all automated.

Overall I still think the Breville slightly outperforms the Ninja in espresso quality but the user-friendly features of the Ninja and the fact that it also replaced drip coffee for the older generation when they visit pushed it over the edge for me. I have now retired the Breville.

Same as previous FP but retail price and GC both went up $50, so a bit more tax. https://slickdeals.net/share/android_app/fp/1062259

Was told by CS the promotion was always 100$. I called BS on that so they would send a customer satisfaction form for the extra 50$.
Technically the original GC was $100 but the machine was only $499. They upped the GC to $150 for a few days. Scummy practice if they don't honor it.

I got this email as well and purchased it when it was already corrected with the $100 amount, so I'm psyched to get another unplanned $50. Thanks to those that called them out on this.

I haven't gotten that email yet, but I was waiting to get a follow-up from customer care. I emailed them a bunch of supporting info and I imagine they were getting lit up over this and knew they had to make it right. Hard to stand up to the 100% member satisfaction thing if you don't honor that.

I received the order. I noticed that the product box inside of the shipping box appears to be opened previously. It was taped over. Is this normal? Upon opening the product box, it seems new though. Is mine a returned product?

I was excited to receive this, but I realized that while the bean grinding part is still somewhat manual, I have to transfer the grounds via the portafilter. I enjoy doing this from time to time, but is the process too much for my wife at 6am daily. . .Is there a comparable espresso machine in the same price range that is truly automatic (no need to use portafilter).

Getting good espresso grinder was a game changer and BBE produced consistent good espresso. I basically exchanged that for gaggia classic for smaller footprint. Otherwise espresso was almost identical from both.

There are settings for adjusting the heat, as they say, RTFM. I got mine a few days ago and really liking it so far.

My biggest gripe with nespresso too. Even tho it's supposedly brewed at the proper temp for each type of espresso. I caught myself microwaving cups of coffee 🤦🏻 ♂️🤦🏻 ♂️🤦🏻 ♂️🤦🏻 ♂️🤦🏻 ♂️

Wow this is an incredibly dirty move from Costco. I'm a bit surprised to see them pull something like this.
It probably was a legit error. Things happen. And you can easily return it or cancel. Costco isn't that grimy, you could literally use this machine for a year and bring it to them with used grinds in it and they'll refund you with a smile. I don't think they're trying to scam people out of $50 that bad
