I bought the 1500amp for about $33~ after coupon in Jan as one of our cars wasn't starting. Tried jumping it w/my other car to no avail. Got it a few hours later. Charged it up and boom - car started. Did the normal drive around for 10-15 mins but that battery was dead. Did it again the next day and again, started the battery. Drive it to battery+ to replace the battery.

It "did the job" for my car, so I support this. With that typed it appears there's many models of these things in life on Amazon so I dunno if this one is BETTER than the next cheap one you find or not. Looks like this is I guess double the amps but honestly that shouldn't really matter outside of the number of jumps it can do for a NORMAL sized car. The 1500a could do 4 jumps. I dunno if I would need more than 4 jumps before a charge....but I also don't say drive a super duper big truck where a larger amp may matter.

From reading you alls comments I guess I should have asked for it to be free for me, but again, $30 to not have to use a tow truck was well worth it that day

The question is how often do you have to charge these up? I guess if you keep it in your home, it's not a big deal, but if your car dies away from home, then what? You're hoping these battery jump starters still have enough charge to do the job at that point. And chances are it's been a year or 3 since the last time you needed a jump or thought about charging up these battery units.

I'm interested in the super capacitor models for this reason.

I just used my autowit the other night for a buddy. Yeah, lithium battery packs are neat, and great for a battery bank. But lithium does not like to be fully charged or fully discharged for a long period of time. It can hurt the battery. Lithium is happiest around 50% charge. Also if you haven't charged it in a while when you finally reach for it because you need it then it probably won't be in working condition. This autowit capacitor jump starter I bought charges directly from the "dead battery" or you can charge it from a wall outlet. It was cold when I used it to jump my friend's car, and I used it to charge directly from his battery because I forgot it had the feature to charge from the wall, doh. I was freezing waiting for it to build up a jump. Anyway it worked like a champ!

If you are wondering how this works; the capacitors inside can take a slow charge from a dying battery, and when full capacitors can dump their charge all at once. That is all the car should need to kick it over.

This is the one I bought. I keep it in the back of my hybrid because I am not supposed to jump other cars from the hybrid. It is a lot more expensive than lithium power jumpers.

I didnt know about capacitor charger before until I read your post. This is actually what I need. I dont' want power bank in the car during the summer, at 120deg inside, something bad is going to happen. I rather have this.

So basically you dont charge it? It takes the charge from a dying battery to charger, then somehow the capacitor will boost the dead battery? What happen if you have a 0% dead battery?

I know what capacitor is and do. They have it on compressor, I change it before, use it to jump start a fan.

i've had gooloo's, mophies, and noco's in my car all depending on whether there was a good sale on them or not. only one I had that did not jump start my car was the smallest mophie I had, and I think it might have just been because the battery was completely drained. This was at home luckily so I just grabbed another one that had a boost button and it got the car jumped and started. I got the gooloo off of project farm's recommendation over 5 years ago and i have 2 different versions and they both seem to be the best ones that I can rely on. Before that I had a lead acid jump starter that wasn't able to jump start anything after a year or two. I do keep these in the car and they always seem to work for me, even after leaving them in the car and not charging them for a year or two.

Yeah capacitors are used everywhere including the HVAC unit outside your house. The unit I have can be charged from your battery, but if your battery is super dead you can charge it from another battery or cigarette lighter or you can even charge it from USB c plugged into your wall. It's probably faster from the car battery though.

I got a smaller one for $40, used it a few dozen times, no issues whatsoever. I jumped my V-10 cutaway Ford van with it in the summer with no battery.

This thing is like magic. Used cables for 5 minutes band wouldn't start. Used this, pressed the button and started right up.

The description says it's "drop proof". I'm clumsy and drop things. I need to buy this...I wonder how they made to not drop?

If your battery is at 0%, then it won't work. You'll have to get some juice from another battery or wall plug. It just takes a little bit of juice (about 3 minutes on your dying battery) and then pushes it out all at once to power the starter motor. Or so I've read.

I have the Astra S8 non-pro version. I have jump started my car and bikes with that. Very good value for that price. This is a higher amp version it seems. The normal S8 has 4.5k reviews

When I needed these for emergency the battery already drained. Not sure if they fixed this on the Lithium batteries, I still prefer the old heavy jumbers with acid battery inside

There may be some differences in jumper pack circuitry and such, but lithium batteries self discharge at a lower rate than a lead acid battery. So you would have the same issues earlier with a lead acid jumper.

I still carry jumper cables and a lithium jump pack.

If you want a quality charger, the Noco brand is very good. I've had my Noco GB70 for 7 years now and it lives in a bag in the back of my topless Jeep in the SW. No swelling or issues of any kind and just used it for someone's F250 3 days ago. HIGHLY recommended.
