I'll try to be on the lookout for a final sale before prices are raised, but wanted to give the heads up that if you're interested in buying a lifetime plex pass membership, you might just need to go with the $120 price before it goes up.

Thank you for this heads-up! i have been waiting for another sale, but buying at $120 is definitely a sale over $250!

I know most wait for a Plex lifetime pass sale. However, if you've been waiting, probably better to buy at regular price before they increase it next month.

Remote viewing will be behind paywall, among other changes.

Yeah np - I would definitely set a reminder of the price increase and hope in the meantime that one last deal will happen. Thankfully there's just over a month until the increase arrives.

Important (bold emphasis mine):
To stream remotely starting on April 29, 2025, you will need a Remote Watch Pass or Plex Pass subscription on your account or the admin of the Plex Media Server from which you stream will need a Plex Pass subscription on their account.

So if you have family for example who streams from your server and you're already paying/paid for a plex pass subscription, nothing changes in that aspect from what I understand.

The bigger news is the removal of remote playback which makes this a pretty big cash grab on their part. It sounds like there will be workarounds that may still work but they're going to paywall off the easy options like port forwarding.
This is a good time to have a look at Jellyfin if you're mainly interested in hosting your own media and can handle your own port forwarding.

I'm happy with Plex, I got my lifetime over a decade ago for $50 and got my moneys worth plus some.

$120 is their normal non-sale price. It has never been $250 before. You aren't making any sense.

At these prices, it's MUCH better to get Jellyfin and buy Infuse Pro lifetime!

EDIT: I feel compelled to retract this statement. Infuse is still much better interface than Plex, but recently I had to ditch a music app because it was outdated and didn't have CarPlay. Plexamp fit the bill and works beautifully. Glad I paid $75 for plex lifetime a long time ago.

Yeah, got a year for $2.99 last July and probably gonna get the lifetime when it expires, best UI by miles.

Don't wait too long. I did and lost $15 as they raised their prices 3 times.
