Yes, based on the reviews the coil is small, so the ideal pan size is like 8 inches. Reason why this is so cheap

Yeah if you don't have 240V in the kitchen, or you don't have enough Amps at the breaker, then it's cheaper to have a more expensive induction stove with battery, vs upgrading wiring or breaker. This is especially true for condo/apartments.
In the grand scheme of things US has pretty low voltage for residential. RoW mostly have 220/240V (1 line).

On Amazon is says max pot six 22cm which is about 8 inches.

Pretty much as long as a magnet sticks to the bottom of you cookware, induction burners should work with it, and a magnet should stick to cast iron.

I've used these counter top induction units with cast iron, and while they work, the cast iron retains so much heat that the cooktop ends up overheating and turning itself off. So while it works, it's not good for simmers and longer cooks.

If you do long cooks it might be energy expensive. I use a 4 quart cast-iron Dutch oven in my Breville 900 BS. It's a larger sophisticated toaster oven that does long cooks. I do oxtail short ribs chuck roast a barbecue beef ribs in my toaster oven. I don't miss the lack of smoky flavor as much as one would think because the meat are delicious and fall bone.

In general this induction stove is a good idea for a small place , as is the breville 900 BS. There might be cheaper options that work just as well nowadays.

If you have a small patio outside consider putting a toaster oven or an induction oven there and cook outside I also have a blackstone electric grill and anova precision oven, and elecric high temp pizza oven outside .

Dum. Like there is 0 other things on the circuit. It'll be in a position where you trigger the circuit breaker every time you use two things.

If you use this on 15 amp wire, maybe dont turn it past 80%?

The manual shows you can set the temperature as low as 140 ( though it may not measure this accurately) and the timer for a maximum of 6 hours. I suspect setting it by Wattage will be too high, as the lowest setting is 200W, which may be too high for slow cooking over many hours

After years of using one of these for 95% of my cooking, the only issue is burner size. They are great up to 8 inches after that the edges cool significantly. I use an 8" cast iron skillet (searing meat, non stick eggs) and an 8" 4qt enameled cast iron dutch oven (Soups/Deep Fry). great for 1-3 people.

I don't own this particular model but own 4 different induction cooktops. I don't think a single one does what you described - even the cheapest one i have (was still more expensive than this). There is one model that I own that has a built in hot-pot setting that does something similar to what you described but that is intended.
I don't think any manufacturer would design an induction cooktops to maintain temperature in the way that you described. Would be super annoying.

for "small space, no kitchen" i'd highly recommend an electric pressure cooker. They are versatile (including slow cooker), energy efficient, and space saving (probably about the size of your dutch oven.) I went with the Instant Pot because i like the stainless steel pot (non stick doesn't last). The 6qt is about perfect, barely larger (dimensional) than the 3qt, but will still cook as little as 1 cup of dry rice. the 3qt is great for 1-2 people. My Instant Pot is the best thing i've invested in ESPECIALLY when it was "small space, no kitchen"
Now i'm sounding like a commercial, but Electric Pressure Cookers are great. I just went with the only reliable brand that used stainless steel. Great for Dorm/Van/Hotel living.

It seems to be mainly an issue with my AFCI/GFCI breakers. I haven't had a trip on the kitchen circuit, which run off ordinary breakers and a GFCI outlet, which is particularly annoying because I use the hob when I'm not cooking in the kitchen.

That is quite possible. Some of those GFCI breakers seem to be overly sensitive or temperamental. There are many accounts of people having issues with GFCI breakers and EV Chargers on 240V outlets, and in many areas, those breakers are required by code.
