Description says "Iconic red, black, and white design for a unique, collectible appearance". It's actually Red, Black OR White, not rbw like Eddie's signature guitar

These are 'special versions' painted as if ed didn't stripe them, so there's a red, a black, and a white model. People just aren't into the idea I guess, but this is identical to the 2k striped relic model

This is a good deal. I bought one months ago (it's been the same price for months now...). The neck on these are phenomenal.

I played the white one in Guitar Center you are right about the neck. I think that the Floyd could use a better trem block and also the trem is non floating.

I set mine up to be floating, I can only pull up maybe 1 step, but I prefer floating vs non-floating. It intonates and stays in tune just fine for me. I haven't had any issues w/ the trem block personally. I've been playing 20+ years, but I haven't had much experience w/ floyd trem blocks though.

The star of the show is the neck and the nitro lacquer body. I also installed a pickguard and am selling off the EVH pickguard, red neck pickup, etc....

the red pickup is functional by the way - it actually sounds good.

What pickguard did you install? Something like the '78 Eruption guitar?

I bought a Stratocaster Floyd Rose Pickguard (all the mounting screw holes lined up), but the problem is a strat neck pocket is curved whereas the EVH is squared off - like a charvel.... so I had to shave off some pickguard plastic with a dremel. In retrospect, sourcing a charvel pickguard would have been easier.

The EVH Relic is basically a Charvel. it has more in common with modern Charvels than strats....

Also keep in mind that the pickups were deep to fit in the pickup cavity when mounted to a pickguard - at least with the pickup height that I preferred. Also the pickup cavity wasn't centered w/ the pickguard I had, so the pickup wouldn't go down into the cavity when the pickguard was in-position..... I had to permanently rout the body with a router to get the pickups to fit... Not sure if your pickups will be this way. I was in the minority and wanted the guitar for the neck and nitro lacquer body (for this price), not for the EVH frankenstein appearance, so I didn't care about routing the body out.

Eddie would have applauded doing modifications to a guitar to make it your own, so if you're willing - have at it!

Thanks for the info. I ordered the white striped '78 Eruption before I saw this red one. I just wanted a relic strat with Humbucker and since EVH was favorite guitarist as a kid, I figured WTH.
