No, you can't always be assured that stainless steel is induction compatible. ONLY magnetic stainless steel is induction compatible. As an example, my vintage stainless steel pans are not magnetic and therefore not induction compatible.

The same set but 12 pieces (plus extra 12" fry pan and 1.5qt pot) was on sale at Costco last month for the same price. Comments say it drops to that price every now and then.

This is still a good value for 5 stainless steel pots and pans, but if you can wait, wait for Costco.

searched for "induction" on that page, and zero hits. So I'm guessing not?

edit - the amazon page says they are induction compatible, and so do some of the reviews

Looks like no easy returns, is it worth trying or should I wait for another deal?

You can be assured cast iron and stainless steel will always be induction compatible.

Copper and aluminum are not induction compatible unless they have a steel desk on the bottom.

I wasn't aware of this, just wanted to share what I found here https://www.whirlpool.com/blog/ki...20cooktops.

"Stainless steel cookware is compatible with induction stovetops, like this one from Whirlpool brand, if it has a magnetic base. Stainless steel with a high nickel content won't work because the nickel blocks the magnetic field. Stainless steels which are magnetic are ideal for induction cooktops."

It is legit. It's been around quite a while. It is owned by the same person that started. Woot.com before selling it to Amazon.

If the nickel content of your stainless steel is too high, stainless steel may not support induction.

I'd rather buy from Costco. Easy lifetime returns.
