Finally got the phone today. I had a curved phone before but this one is even more curved and kinda distort the picture a little but overall pretty decent phone.
Also I recomend debloating the phone because Android 14 and this motorola come with tons of junk apps and games.
Can you upgrade to Android 15?

Without root you need to wait for offical release but I cannot find any date yet.
It should be in beta testing stages so we might get it soon.

It's not Android 14 it's Motorola that preloaded their phones with a bunch of their and "partner" apps junk. I've had this phone since November other than the too curvey screen it's an excellent all around phone, especially with the battery life.

Is it possible to use a phone number for the port-in that I have on my Verizon account. Currently, I have 4 lines on my family plan and the 4th one I just opened 2 weeks ago temporarily for a family member who was visiting from Europe for a week. I intended to cancel that line around April 10. It's a line with its own number.
Could I use that number for this deal? Or would that mess up my existing Verizon account? I could use this Motorola phone as a small "tablet" sort of but primarily as a drone controller screen.

Followed the excellent instructions from this thread to activate my new Total Wireless Moto Edge with Numberbarn port-out number and enclosed physical SIM. (initially verified purchase with GV number)
Start to finish: 60 minutes.

Q. when I don't pay TW Month 2, will I lose my number? I want to unlock the Edge on Day 60, port-out the new number to GV, and port in an existing TF number/service from my old Moto G Power (2021).

You can submit your Verizon number to see if it's accepted. It won't lock up or port your number right away. Since Total and their sister-brands like Tracfone, Straight Talk, Net10, etc are owned by Verizon, then a Verizon number might not be eligible.

You'll lose your ported-in number when your line is deactivated after the 1st month. You can port your new number back out before the line gets deactivated. I've done that around the 20th day from activation and the phone still got unlocked after 60 days.

After the phone is unlocked after 60 days, then you can use any SIM. The eSIM will be unlocked at that time too.

is it better to go through the phone itself, for activation/and port from numberbarn, or is it better to go through the website for this purpose?

It makes no difference either way.
