5070 does worse than a 4070 super in many games.. just fyi
If you absolutely need a new gpu right now, this is probably the best you're going to get. The sad truth of the current gpu market is that msrp cards are a rarity and most people will end up spending at least 10% over msrp even for low end aib models. If you live near a microcenter you might be better off waiting to see if you can snag a 9070xt at under $650 when they restock, if you don't live near a microcenter you're pretty much out of luck when it comes to msrp cards.

That all being said, no gpu over $450 should have only 12gb of vram in 2025. The fact the 5070 only has 12gb is yet another example of nvidia's anti-consumer planned obsolescence. You'll likely need to turn down settings at 1440p or higher in order to remain within this cards vram buffer, and high end raytracing is unattainable. Please keep in mind that nvidia's "multi frame generation" is a relatively niche frame smoothing technology, it doesn't improve performance and actually increases latency. MFG's 4x mode is really only viable if you have at minimum a 240z monitor, and 3x mode isn't viable without at minimum a 180hz monitor.
Buying a brand new GPU with less than 16GB VRAM in 2025 is just unwise. I was playing Rise of the Ronin the other day and it was barely staying under 12GB VRAM usage. Games that come out in 2026/2027 will blow past it without a doubt.

Doesn't it really depend on the user? I mean i don't play AAA games. I just want LOL and CS GO to run smoother than my it does on my 3070.

12GB of vram in 2025 is criminal. 32gb should be standard. heck xbox use 16gb of fast unified memory.
32GB is the standard if you have $2500 to spend.

I remember when $300 bought you the fastest video card on the market.
That must have been a very long time ago. The best can you buy has been more than $300 for as long as I can remember. For example, the GeForce 6800 Ultra was $500 way back in 2004.

Isn't that card already giving you 200-300 fps at 4k in those games?

I saved $55 because no sales tax. I have a Microcenter but sales tax is 10% in Overland Park. $549 = 54.90 in sales tax alone. It's actually costs me about $60 in gas and tolls to drive there and back

The Microcenter near me charges 9.5% tax, I'm use to paying 4% on my side of town for things. I didn't realize how high tax has gotten in places.

There is no reason why LOL and CSGO wouldn't run at max frames on a 3070....
