Seiko was the winner when they were selling these watches around $80 USD a few years back. Without any upgrades, being the bracelet or designs, along with price increases, likely netted the downvotes. I have a few Seiko's myself, including a birthday watch dating back 1960s. Then again, I also have a few Swiss watches, a few Chinese watches, and to be honest, Seiko has little to offer when compared to those. For about $250, you can get a Tissot automatic with 80 hrs power (I don't own one). For about $350 you can get a Glycine (still made in Swiss) GMT (I have the bronze version GL0321 at $450 and accurate as COSC). For about $150 you can get a Sugess mechnical chrono or Cronos (both Chinese) with excellent accuracy (mine <+5s per day out of box). I believe many Chinese watch makers have moved away from fake replicas into their own brand. San Martin is probably the lead (but I don't own one), but I find it hard to believe it can be much better than my recently acquired Cronos L6027M. If nothing else, its bracelet is 10x better than my aqua terra (2023). The only thing that's going well for Seiko is probably the Grand Seiko line, gaining popularity and perhaps market share. Then again, spring drive is not everyone's cup of tea (I hesitated for a long time but did get one a year ago). Its design is unique and has a cult following for sure.
