I think any heat issues were probably with similar i9 versions. I picked up a 2nd one and they both run cool and virtually silent. Keep in mind this is the i5 (U) version which is very low wattage. They don't get that hot. The deal is still live where I am in Indiana. I upgraded them both to 40GB ram and 2TB SSD. Screen isn't the brightest but it's fine if I'm not shining light on it. I was going to get the expensive 3k OLED version but didn't want to worry about burn-in. I only saw 1 SSD slot. The form factor is M.2 2280.

What are peoples thoughts on this Vivobook vs the Walmart Lenovo Ideapad for the same price of $419? Walmart near me still shows this and the Ideapad for $419. I just now bought the Ideapad since it has an extra 8GB of ram. Is one better than the other since these are both the same price? This will be strictly for my wife to watch Netflix and surf the web with at least 25+ chrome tabs open at once.

I haven't tried the Lenovo. With 8GB of RAM in the ASUS, I was able to watch Netflix and daily tasks without problems. I only bought it because the ASUS allowed to upgrade the RAM. It required some finess to open things up, but wasn't bad. I don't think the Lenovo can upgrade memory, but 16GB should be plenty for your needs in the Lenovo, and you don't have to mess with opening it up. If I were going to buy one or the other without intending to upgrade the RAM, I'd probably try the Lenovo, as the 8GB was usually 80% full and likely using a page file more than 16GB would. The AMD chipset in the Lenovo is probably a bit quicker. For daily tasks, probably wouldn't see a difference.

If it were me, and I did (not) want to mess with upgrading the RAM, the Lenovo might the safe bet. If for some reason the fan is loud (probably not), you could return it and go with the ASUS.

Hey thanks for the answer. If the laptop was for me, I would probably go with the Asus and upgrade the ram as well. She has a refurb laptop that I bought in 2022 (Dell 7490 Touch) that came with 8gb but I upgraded it to 16gb 3 yrs ago. The laptop is starting to have issues now(keyboard acting up, touchscreen turning off, and the audio speakers suck, really low volume. She's tired of me buying her refurbs lol. I figured one of these two has to be better than what she has now and she likes the 2-in1's. If this Ideapad doesnt ship out, I will definetly try and order this Asus.
