Also, the non-original noodles, like the Disney themed, Mario, etc ones take longer to cook the noodles too, 11-12 mins vs 7-8. Less product and longer cook time. OTOH, Sometimes easier to feed kids the themed ones...

Shapes taste worse, take longer to cook, and the outside of the noodle gets too soft before the inside is fully cooked. The only advantage of shapes is enjoyment of the box before you cook it.

Not a sales pitch, but try the rice-a-roni mac and cheese. I've begun to prefer it.
