For those who only want cash, not points:

$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.

Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.

Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.

Any 0% apr period on this?

Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Not only is it in OP's message, it's also in the subject. Good grief.

Go to the branch, my banker waived it for me by depositing $95 in my account
How can the banker just deposit money into your account like that?

They can debit a general ledger which technically are just funds in an account from the bank to be used for fee reversals or credits to customers directly from the bank with a managers authority

So if I get this card and meet the threshold of $5k in spending and want to just redeem the $100k bonus reward points as a statement credit, it would translate to roughly $800 since I'm not redeeming it for some sort of travel?
i think you can pay your self back in statement credits occasional for groceries, so like 1250 instead of 800

Let's assume I reach 5K spend with 3 big purchases and got the 100K welcome bonus points. Now if I end up returning one of the big purchase that helped reach 5K, would chase claw back the welcome bonus or only the points that I received for that purchase will be taken back and I still keep the 100K welcome bonus. Anyone with similar experience in past?
Chase is not known to clawback the bonus for that reason like AMEX does, but that doesn't mean that they can't.
