For those who only want cash, not points:

$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.

Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.

Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.

Any 0% apr period on this?

Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Not only is it in OP's message, it's also in the subject. Good grief.

Look for anything you can pay without fees. Insurance bills, tax bills, utilities, etc. If nothing else, Staples runs a recurring offer for $200 Visa or Mastercard gift cards without fees so you can stock up on them.

my tax guy said irs doesnt take cc. i told him people here pay with paypal and such. he still said no
bank checking only. so that option was gone.

The IRS definitely does take credit cards. Inform your tax guy about this and send him a bill for the education. They will charge you a % (I don't remember how much but under 3% I think) and you can check with your state to see if they do. SC allows me to pay income taxes with a card with no extra fees.

The gift card sales at Staples cost you nothing but your time and they spend like cash at most places.

If my wife got a bonus on an ink card several months ago, will she be able to get a bonus on the sapphire? (She's never had the sapphire card)

She should be able to. I have multiple bonuses on Sapphire and several INK cards.

Got an email from TPG this morning that this offer is set to expire soon. So I signed up both my wife and I. Both instantly approved for ~12K credit limit. Now to spend the 10K in 3 months.

We went through this verification loop stuff as well multiple times. Sent documents answered questions but this went on for 2 weeks and multiple calls. After every call we were told we are done and it was never done. Despite being Chae customers for 2 decades with exceptional score and being pre approved. Eventually a branch visit worked.
My wife went through the same process. The reconsideration line said they couldn't do anything because the security team flagged it for fraud and denied the app based on the docs she sent in. So as a final attempt she went to the branch, told the banker the situation and she got approved and out of there in less than 10 mins. Guess we should have just went there to start with.

What credit line are people getting with 790 score?

Though I recall I had one of these offers some years back (it was $700 in points then) but can't remember how long its been. Not even sure if I will qualify.

I'm currently on CSR and will want to downgrade to CS Freedom then wait a week and apply for a new CSP card.

What happens to your points currently in the CSR Ultimate Rewards Account? they move over toe CS Freedom? or can I then transfer them over to the CSP?

I guess as a CSR i get 1.5x points per spend and CSP, 1.25x point per spend where as the Chase Freedom is 1.0 point per spend in the UR portal.

Is there a way to get my points moved back to the new CSP card? I think you can, just not 100% certain. Since I have roughly 250k points right now, and don't want to lose the value completely.

Yes, they should move over to your Freedom, along with any balance owed. And then also yes, you can move them back once you get your CSP. I did this operation a couple weeks ago.

I'd get moving on it if I were you though. This offer could end any day now. You only need to wait 4 days to re-apply for the CSP online.

If I get the CSP but am unable to meet the 5k spend, can I cancel later this year, and reapply for a new CSP and be eligible for whatever SUB they have then?

Don't cancel before a year is up, or you may have trouble getting a new card.

Chase says you can cancel within 30 days with no penalty, but I've been told that's not true.

Thanks. Then same question but I cancel after a year.

I was planning to get this card, but now there is the $100 travel offer on three of my freedom cards, and so I'm wondering if I'll be able to meet the 5k spend on the CSP if I get it. I don't need to book with the freedom cards, but that means the CSP bonus is effectively getting reduced.

Usually about a month or so. No guarantees though.
I think she should be okay given that I got a mailer for the 100K with an expiration date of 5/19.

Downgraded my Sapphire Reserve last week to a Freedom Unlimited, then got approved for the Preferred with the 100K today. Used my wife's referral so she gets 10K as well. Referral's add up!

Once you get the Preferred, transfer all your CFU points to the Preferred card if you plan on using any on their portal. Transfers are instantaneous. You can wait 2-5 days after downgrading to apply for the Preferred, you should be approved on the spot if you meet their requirements including the Chase 5/24 rule. DM if you need help.
