For those who only want cash, not points:

$1000 cash back less:
- $95 annual fee
- $50-100 opportunity cost for spending $5000 on a card that only gives 1%cb when you could have gotten 2-3%cb.

Still over $800 tax-free profit. Not bad at all.

Considering it. I have one more application before I hit chase 5/24, then wait for a boosted amex gold or platinum bonus.

Any 0% apr period on this?

Will they treat a tax payment at pay1040 as a cash advance? Most credit card vendors treat it as a purchase.
The offer is supposed to be available online starting 04/03.
Not only is it in OP's message, it's also in the subject. Good grief.

After you earn the 100K bonus and it has posted to your account succesfuly, is there a timeframe you need to keep this card before downgrading to one of the no annual fee versions (ex. Freedom etc)? I couldn't see any mention in the offer details.

Keep the first year. Ask to downgrade after the annual fee is charged in the following year.

I have a question about the 3x on streaming services. Do you have to make the purchase directly to Netflix, Spotify, etc.. or does Paypal still work to accrue the bonus? I'm assuming the former, but I just wanted to make sure.

Thanks for the advice - persistence paid off. On the third call, I made it clear that I never received the letter and that it was long past the "7-10 days" and she told me the reason why I was not instantly approved and then transferred me to the verification line. I verified my identity a few minutes ago and am hoping that I am good to go!
After yet another call yesterday, I finally figured out that I had been denied and the person I spoke to suggested I go into a branch to reapply. I told him I do not live near a branch and asked why I could not just reapply online. He said that would be OK and so I did and was instantly approved.

Looks like the referral 100k offer is over? I wonder if that means this offer is almost done.

When do the 100K points hit?
My first statement closed with only $49xx spend.
I have a transaction that will post in the next few days that will put me over $5K spend.
Do I have to wait until the second statement to see the 100K bonus points?

This is only an educated guess. If the offer is "spend $5000 in the first three months" then I assume it's redeemable after month three. Someone can correct me if I am wrong. I am in the same boat where I have a high $4000 balance before the end of month one.

Typically the points will show as "pending" as soon as you cross the required spend, and will post with your next statement-- so if you do that before month 2 is done you get the points end of month 2.

I was hoping that I would get the $5000 spend in before the statement closed, but Chase's website never said when that was. Otherwise, I would have tried to get the $5000 spend sooner.

Oh, well.

Once those points hit, I will be redeeming them for a statement credit and use the CSP to pay my estimated taxes. I don't travel so I won't be redeeming them for travel.

Right.

But I wanted the points so that they were there on the first statement so that I can redeem them against the $5000 spend.
I missed it by a few days.

This is good at any branch till the 17th.
Went to a branch on Tuesday. Was super easy. My card should be here tomorrow.
Bringing a friend later to sign up and will try and get referral points.

I logged into Chase.com today and the 100K points shows as pending.
Hovering over the (i) icon brings up text saying that the points will post on the next statement.
The first statement's points I redeemed for "cash" to my M&T Bank's checking account.
I plan doing the same for the 100K points.

My barclay card will have points available right away as soon as the purchase posts (way before purchases are paid off) so I can do exactly that, redeem them in the same statement period as the purchase, they will also reset my credit line if I send in a payment early. I'm not as familiar with how Chase works but apparently it won't do either of these? Knightshade I'm sure knows the answer to this.

Circling back to this. I hit the $5k amount before my first month statement came thru. It showed the 100k + whatever points I had accrued as pending. Once my statement was available then the points were posted to my rewards account. Hope this helps with anyone else the next time this type of offer is available.
