The timing is horrendous on these. You should be aiming for CL30.

Right in the sweet spot: 64GB via four sticks is always overkill, and then there's the endemic problem of AMD motherboards especially dealing poorly with 2x2 and favoring usage of just two of the four DIMM slots.

I could be wrong but from reading online, my prebuilt alienware does not support 6000 mhz unless i mess around with bios and by default it will capped at 4800 Mhz.
If compatible, this will ofcourse will be a better deal for you.

Price is right, but I am also concerned about the CAS latency at 46-48 on these.
Doing my first PC build, Intel base with i7 12700k, z790 and (hopefully if it ever comes back in stock) an arc b580. From what I have read recommended ram should have a CL of 36, 32-30 even better.
Does CL make a meaningful difference that can be felt, or is it one of those overhyped specs?

Ideally, sure, if you want to spend a lot more and go with a different DIMM configuration.

But real world performance with timings isn't significant enough to spend at least another $60 versus putting it toward more meaningful upgrades.

If you can get two of these for the price of one 64GB kit with better timings, I'd say having an extra 32GB of RAM available is going to make for a more robust system for most people.

The next Doom is already aiming for 64GB being preferred.

Good to hear, but respectfully the people buying 32GB (gaming) and the people buying 48-96GB (media creation and LLM) aren't usually building PCs for the same purpose.

That problem isn't exclusive to AMD. Intel 12, 13, and 14th gen only officially support 4400 MT/s with 4 sticks of DDR5. If you won the silicon lottery and have a strong controller in your CPU, you can still push 4 sticks at 6000.

I have an Alienware with a Z890 chipset. Out of curiosity, I'm going to buy the less expensive 6000 MT/s kit that they linked and I'll post back how the system sees it. I really think it's going to detect and run at 5600 MT/s. Could be wrong of course.

From what I could find out this is a CL 48 which is pretty slow. So not probably a great option for many people that are looking for fast RAM.

If what i read was correct atleast for R16, it caps at 4800 and 5600 runs as it is. I don't have prime so waiting a week for this to arrive.
