Here we have freakin 2 TERRABYTE MICROSD CARDS, but the phone manufacturers are still gouging us on an upgrade from 128 to 256 GIGABYTES.
Somehow I feel like it wouldn't break their banks to add an extra few hundred gigs. Especially since none of them offer memory card slots anymore…

I wish I could just shove this into an S25 but nooOOoo. I think Sony is the only company whose "flagship" still has uSD slot.

Right lol. A large reason phone manufacturers do that is so you're forced into buying cloud plans for extra data
That's fine, and their prerogative, but it ticks me off the most that in 2025 I still need to deletes some apps on my phone to download a new one. That's bs.

Pretty sure you mean GIGABYTES and not MEGABYTES. I still remember when 20 MEGABYTES was such a luxury on my IBM XT compatible with 4 color graphics….
My first PC has 420mb HDD...

Tbf flash cards seem to be among the most commonly counterfeited product type and Amazon is pretty susceptible to fakes. $3 more and you're assured you're getting a legit one, directly from SanDisk's store:

If you plan on buying 2, Sandisk website is cheaper since they have a bundle promo where you'll get 15% discount.
I got 2 for 305 plus tax, with 15% rCB. Excellent deal. Thanks a bunch!

You know nothing about what you're talking about. A very childish argument.
Get real. The overwhelming reason manufacturers ditched the microsd slot was to follow the Apple model of fleecing you on storage upgrades.

I use 64gb in my camera. If I got this 2TB and it was missing 64GB I probably wouldn't even notice lol.

As much as I love microsd slots they've always caused issues for me. I can understand manufacturers not wanting to support them in software. Apple supports direct recording to external ssds now too.

Yes, they support it because it's impossible to market a phone that can record at 4K/128fps with only 128GB storage. If you had nothing else on the phone, you'd fill the storage with 20 minutes at that rate. The logical thing would be to add an expandable storage slot so that you're not tethered to an external drive if you were trying to do a professional shoot, but that's not the Apple way (nor any of the OEM's trying to copy their business model).

The microsd slot is a useful feature. Of course, if you buy a crappy storage card it won't work well in some cases or will only really work for storing movies, pictures and music. But, that's still pretty useful.

This is laughably incorrect. The reliability and performance of built in storage is leagues better than that of a micro sd card. I've had very mixed results using micro sd cards. It works great on my Nintendo consoles but on phones/tablets I've had some really frustrating problems with micro sd cards.

I totally forgot to bring that up. There's really no point in using SD cards in phones anymore.

They're used in drones, GoPros, dash cams and body cams. If you're a cop, that microSD card might be the difference between a long prison sentence and a relaxing retirement. I'd say that's pretty reliable.

Certainly if you buy junk storage, you get what you pay for, but the idea that Apple will now allow you to record to external storage over USB that may be no faster than an internal microSD card while charging a fortune for additional NAND storage that costs them very little is a joke.

It's not complicated. It's a money grab.

Of course external storage isn't as good built in storage. But at least we had the option, whereas now we are limited to ridiculously low storage options unless we pony up hundreds of dollars more for a more reasonable amount.
Come on. Do you really think 128gb is what a standard phone these days should start at?

I have 256gb of storage on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I paid extra for it. Since I've owned it I've been using at least only 12% of the storage. Storage space is overrated.
