Here we have freakin 2 TERRABYTE MICROSD CARDS, but the phone manufacturers are still gouging us on an upgrade from 128 to 256 GIGABYTES.
Somehow I feel like it wouldn't break their banks to add an extra few hundred gigs. Especially since none of them offer memory card slots anymore…

I wish I could just shove this into an S25 but nooOOoo. I think Sony is the only company whose "flagship" still has uSD slot.

I have 256gb of storage on my iPhone 13 Pro Max and I paid extra for it. Since I've owned it I've been using at least only 12% of the storage. Storage space is overrated.
Nice. Send me the address to your cave so I can come visit you.
12% used? Did you buy it last week?
Storage space is overrated? Anyone else here agree and care to chime in?

In any case, you proved my point. You had to pay another $100+ extra to get an extra measly 128 GB.

FYI, Sandisk has this for $179.99. For the first time in years, mods have warned me not to mention anything about other discounts that may be available there. Strange how they pick and choose what to warn us about...

1tb of switch games is already a boatload
Accurate. I'm pretty sure my 1 tb is significantly less than half full with about 40 games on it.

Its to get you to pay for their cloud storage services. It's a scam, just like forced obsolescence.

They're used in drones, GoPros, dash cams and body cams. If you're a cop, that microSD card might be the difference between a long prison sentence and a relaxing retirement. I'd say that's pretty reliable.

Certainly if you buy junk storage, you get what you pay for, but the idea that Apple will now allow you to record to external storage over USB that may be no faster than an internal microSD card while charging a fortune for additional NAND storage that costs them very little is a joke.

It's not complicated. It's a money grab.
There's a huge difference between storing video from a drone on an sd card vs in a phone where you can install apps to it, and apps can save settings and data to it. If you have an app store app that stores data on the microsd card, and you remove the card, your system gets messed up. It's just not worth the headache and even android manufacturers that always supported them have stopped now.

I do agree though there's no reason why every portable device doesn't come with at least 512GB by default these days, and anything over about $600 should be 2TB.

The PC industry has been getting along just fine for decades without worry that people will install apps to low quality external storage drives or eject them while in use.

Phone manufacturers are never going to come out and say, "the market is fully matured and we needed new revenue streams for iterative updated phones, so we're following the Apple model of shutting off the consumer option of inexpensive storage upgrades."

Lol, so because you paid extra for it and don't use it, it's overrated for everyone. Great logic there 🤣

Wow 2 TB in such a small little thing crazy. I remember buying a 200gb hard drive for 400$ and having to install a separate card and software into my PC because the Windows operating system at the time could not recognize a hd that big haha
