I'd probably pay the extra $110 for the hydraulic brakes and upgraded battery. As with all Chinese no-name bikes, don't expect any support from the manufacturer. Any repairs will be your responsibility.

Weight is 74lbs.

Note that this code won't stack with the codes on the website.

Here's a review of the cheaper model [bikeride.com].

This page says it's UL approved [electrocruisers.com] but I have my doubts, especially since Senada doesn't mention it on their site.

One approval on Reddit [reddit.com]

Here's a guy riding it on an easy trail and then on the road (gets it up to an indicated 30mph). Unclear if this is sponsored.

Fat tire ebikes may not be ideal [youtube.com] unless you plan to ride on sand (TL; DW: higher mass and rolling resistance makes them inefficient, but they can be fun)

Don't have much to add but bought the senada harald plus for our 14 year old. He has ridden it everywhere and enjoys it, all flat roads here in Florida. Can ride to the beach over a bridge and back without using one bar of the battery.
Seems good to me, it showed up with a scratched rear fender, they responded quick and sent a new one. Shipped from China so took awhile.
Some screws came loose in the front brake assembly, a simple Amazon order fixed that as I didn't want to deal with screws coming from China. I kinda figure with these bikes if you get 2 years out of it then that's pretty good.
Long story short, the 14 year old likes it and has no complaints.

What about a bike bike if the goal is weight loss?

Because you can't build a ebike with these specs for less.
A 1000watt motor is $300
A 48v/20ah battery is $300
A bike costs at least $250
$850 to do it yourself + lights + labor to install when this is PREBUILT ready to go.

Killer deal
This is a strong point. The only things making me on the fence about this deal despite being "in the market for one" is being 5'4'' and wanting the bragging rights/experience of making my own.

That depends. If you turn off pedal assist (I assume most ebikes have a way to turn it off), you can just pedal with your own weight and strength... and if things way too tiring, you can turn it on level 1 or 2 to keep the momentum going and turn it off once you recover. There's also carrying the thing around if needed as that probably get your more exercise being it's 70+ lbs.

An eBike could be a good (however slightly pricey) starting point to just go outside and bike for exercise until they decide later to other exercises or get a bike and start cycling for real.

Worst comes to worst, you have a decent commuter bike to use in the city or around town.

I'm personally debating if I want to get this ebike before the tariffs ruin everything.
You're correct about the choosing to pedal instead of using motor. Problem is, they generally don't pedal. I see these bikes all the time on bike paths and you don't they aren't pedaling. My point is, if you want to exercise don't buy a motorized bike. You see them turning the pedals at like 45rpm and doing 18-20 mph on a 75 lb bike. It's easy to see what's happening. From the reviews I've read. This appears to be a good deal and worth the money. I think it would be a mistake to use it on dirt trails for very long but to each their own. I'd be VERY surprised if those forks did much more than take the edge off a jolt but I still think it's worth the money and probably best to get it before tariffs take effect.

May not be "thee" way but it is one of the ways. Far better than running around of a motorized bike.

If you want to lose weight, getting on a motorized bike isn't going to do anything for you. You should get a bicycle and pedal. This is the equivalent to sitting in your living room hoping to lose weight.
Any movement is better then no movement. If this gets the dude outside even for what will be very light exercise, it's a win.

These have the most garish colorways of any bike.

Looks like a good deal as long as you don't look at it.

Thanks for the heads up. Bought one of the "Plus" models. Was $709 total. No tax?? Question ... as a newbie bike rider with a large frame ... I may upgrade the seat. Any suggestions as to what seats you would suggest for more comfort? Thank again ... stay safe!

People talking about cruising on their ebikes at 30 mph are absolutely nuts. You can go down at any moment. Ask anyone who has ever wrecked a motorcycle while wearing street clothes, even as slow as 25 mph.

I bike commuted using a regular bike over 15000 miles for 10 years. 80% of the scars I have are from bike falls; one of them is actually a scar over a previous scar, so a freebie. Going down at 20 mph can already be pretty painful, 30 mph is more than twice the energy. I wouldn't cruise around any faster then 20 mph, not without actual motorcycle gear. If 20 mph is too slow to get you to where you need to go, then plan more time into your day.
I may wear an actual full face motorcycle helmet. Its just like riding a motorcycle at crazy speeds, there is a time and place for everything. you cant do it all the time.. but under the right conditions yes.

I was was going to buy Plus version, however my state limits to 750W only. If you plan on driving on trails you might have to check your local laws and change settings to lower speeds. My state allows only class 1 so speed and throttle needs to be changed. Also some reviews say the battery last less than advertised, around 28 miles.
Here are manuals to change settings: https://senadabikes.com/pages/tools
Limited local law info: https://senadabikes.com/blogs/lat...egulations

Skip the Archon, and go to plus for the hydraulic brakes. 1000 watt motor, should get you to 25 mph unless you are a fatty. gonna need that stopping power.no rear suspension, upgrade seat is a must, cushion or suspension. hardly doubt you will get 78 miles more like 30 miles if you dont PA.no need to change tires battery until it wears out. i doubt battery is certified by anyone reputable. plus is only available in red white and blue black as of 8 pm pst 4/2solid entry ebike at 700 bucks. can't complain or compare to name brands. they cut corners on quality of life parts, and make it ridable.
To ride in park check your local laws as my state limits to 750w.

I have the Senada Austin. Is there any reason to get this also for just city and sidewalk riding?

you are correct, its a law... a stupid moronic law implemented by idiots in CA last year.

with that said.
i haven't met 1 police officer who pulled anyone over for having a not legal motor. only people i have seen get pulled over were the guys going 35mph and zipping in and out of traffic.

i have class 3 and 750 watt sticker on mine, just in case.
its a smart 3 dollar investment. vs getting your bike taken

Have you ridden more than 15000 miles? Do you think it's wise to dismiss the advice from someone with more experience? The frequency someone gets into un-avoidable wrecks is going to depend on the situation they ride in but all it takes is going down just ONCE at 30 mph to send you to the hospital.

If all you ever do is recreational riding, then you have no idea the conditions people will encounter with an ebike. Recreational riding is almost always done on dry days in daylight, on paths separated from car traffic; fair-weather riding, literally the most accident free type of riding. The more utilitarian your riding becomes, the less say you have over the conditions you ride in. If you ride somewhere for utility, then you do not have a say over the time you ride and are commited to riding back hours later, and no matter how much you check the weather report, it will eventually be wrong and you have to ride back in the rain or it rained between your in/out rides and the streets are wet. Everything changes when it rains. Branches hang lower when they are wet, couple that with shorters days in the winter and having to ride in the dark, increases the odds of being clotheslined by them. Metal grates/plates and street paint becomes slippery as ice. Glass shards stick to your wet tire instead of immediately falling off, so they get dug deeper and deeper into your tire every rotation, increasing the odd you pop a tube and an unexpected blowout during a sharp turn or braking event can take you down.

There's a reason motorcycle riders wear what they wear, but I'm guessing if you rode a motorcycle, you would do it in jeans.
if you go riding in the rain, snow, heavy wind, and you fall down, thats more of a you problem than anything. its poor judgement and stupidity. why would a experienced rider, think, OH HEY. its dark and raining, visibility of 5 yards, let me zip around going 30 + mph

i question your not your recommendation, but your sanity.

i don't keep how many miles i have under my belt, but its been 20 years. 1 accident, and that was my fault, for riding a motorcycle with a stuck clutch or something.

and yes. i ride my ebike with my shorts and tank top going to the gym.
i need everyone to see my above avg arms, shoulders, and calf.

ANYONE KNEW TO RIDING.
invest in helmet riding jacket w protection and gloves.
