I know this is a detail sander, but how is it for multipurpose jobs vs the circular sander? Would love to just have one sander tool for occasional projects.

Can I use this to sand wooden doors to take the coating off and then paint it white?

Unless you're doing a lot of detail sanding go with an orbital or square sheet sanders.

I get if your need is to reduce the amount of tools on hand, but I would go crazy if I didn't have both. For occasional use, I'd say ditch the cordless and get two cheapo corded ones, one of each. You can get them for about $20 each from Harbor Freight or Menards

I use the cat more so than the orbital.

I have this, and I use it for most quick sanding jobs that I need to do. But, I got mine at the thrift store for like $10, if less.

If you're buying something new, I would probably go with the orbital.
(I did get a harbor freight Corbett Hall, corded, that I use for bigger jobs, where I set up sawhorses and cables, but this is what I grab for quick stuff because it's cordless"

Technically, yes, but it's really not designed for something that big. This is more for final detail work, not large pieces of wood

I would start with a chemical stripper if you haven't yet.

It may save you a lot of labor, especially since you don't need it completely bare to paint it.

Just make sure you start with a good primer, like Zinsser Peel Stop.

Overpriced. I have the corner cat sander. Paid $20 for it. Looks like they're charging $30 extra for the "free battery." Nice bait deal for people who don't know any better.

I agree. $30 and this deal would be slick.

Agreed. It's a good tool, but not $50 good. Maybe if it was the orbital with a free battery.

The 2ah Ryobi branded batteries sell for about 30 bucks on their own so to me this isn't a bad deal.

You can get a sander attachment for an oscillating tool if you have one fyi
