i caution everyone to maybe go see this in store, or at least be prepared to return it.

for 1. even though it is a 3 step ladder, the top step is only 26" high. thats only a couple more inches then a decent 2 step.

225lb rating is pretty darn low. and trust me it sure doesnt feel like it actually has that rating. it is super wobbly and sketchy feeling. its very narrow, and the steps are super small as well.

i wouldnt buy this for anything more than a petite women trying to reach a bit higher in the kitchen/laundry. trying to use this as an average size male, or even female, will leave you wanting.

I know this is a much more expensive ladder, but I'm using it as an example.

see the metal around the steps? That's what you want to have. Especially when the top step is part of the structure that keeps the thing upright. I would not rely on flimsy plastic to keep you 3' in the air... Or even 2'...

edit... Omg people. READ. I'm not saying you should buy the ladder ii linked to. Yes I know it is way more than the deal posted. Yes, I know it is no taller. I'm literally posting it to show people what I think is a very important feature that is lacking in the $20 step ladder, which is the metal steps, which also act as structural support. I'm not telling anyone what to buy or which to buy. I'm simply giving a caution. I thought I was being helpful, but apparently people are taking issue with sharing my experience/advice. You don't have to argue with me. Just buy it if you want.
About 6 months ago I picked up this step stool from Walmart for $18 (Cosco brand, tho identical), then soon wished I had bought two. Now my wish was granted. Thanks OP. Great step ladder and sturdier than I first expected.

Edit/Update: My Gorilla step stool was just delivered moments ago.
It appears it's not identical to my Walmart Cosco 3-step step stool and disappointingly very inferior to Walmart's model.

Each platform on the Gorilla stands 1" lower on rise, which makes the 3rd platform 3' shorter in height, compared to my $18 Walmart step stool.
But even more critical is that each platform on the Gorilla has about 30% less surface area and makes the entire step stool somewhat wobbly, whereas the Walmart/Cosco version is rock solid. Both rated at 225 lbs.
Considering returning and waiting for another deal on another Walmart/Cosco one.
The one you listed does look beefier but it also costs more than 2x as much, but more importantly carries the same 225 lb. rating as the one posted here.

Can you share the Walmart Cosco one you got before? Do you think any of the cosco ones will be better value for money in terms of quality?
The Cosco one I got at Walmart on a sale for $18 is linked below:
https://www.walmart.com/ip/COSCO-.../397155847

I like it miles better than the Gorilla one, as it's much sturdier, with 30% bigger step platforms, plus the top step platform is 3" higher than the Gorilla.
The quality is visibly better, as well. The Cosco one also has 2,176 ratings with a 4.8 out of 5 rating and these reviews aren't the fake type.
Right now it's $39.97, but I'll be checking it regularly for any price drops/deals.

This 3-step ladder is Gorilla's light duty model. Their super stable model costs around $60 at Home Depot.

Got one because my long-time 3-step ladder is heavy and tall with an extended top rail. This one is about one foot shorter and about half the weight but still seems sturdy (no family members > 225 lbs). Got it with free same day delivery and 10% off using the HD pro charge card. Thanks op!

$20 seems to be the usual price for this. It's been marked down pretty consistently for months. I got this last year after having to bicker with the employees because it rang up for more, but the display had very obvious pricing that was printed right on the display, not just a wrong tag on the shelf. Even after taking them back to it and saying "look, here's the item in a large cardboard shipping box that converts to a display with pictures of the item and pre-printed pricing of $20. They still didn't want to give it to me for that.

I bought it at this price last time. Underwhelmed to say the least. The release lever mechanism is weird and cheap. It works, but its unintuitive and every time I grab it I've got to remember how to unlock it. I mean.. $20 it's kinda hard to complain but I'd rather spend 10-20 more dollars and get better quality and a different locking mechanism. Not sure that's possible though I haven't looked at the competition to know.

Or you could wait for the Cosco from Costco that goes on sale for about $25 or cheaper https://www.costco.com/cosco-3-st...9718.html, which is an ANSI Type I vs Type II.

That's not the same Cosco step stool as the one I got from Walmart. I'm happy with the Walmart Cosco version, plus I'm not into buying any store 'memberships'.

Thanks for posting this and especially "see the metal around the steps…" I got to the link, clicked it, and couldn't figure out what was different. Even the titles look the same. Came back to finish reading and immediately read your "metal around the steps" comment. Makes perfect sense and I do appreciate your feedback. A lot of people probably didn't even finish reading what you wrote. Just know that your comment is helpful to some (like me) so ignore those complaining. Can't please 'em all! Smilie

Received mine today and will be keeping it. Doesn't wobble at all and all the steps are made of metal, with a powder coated grey finish (or so it seems). Take the highlighted comment on the first page with a grain of salt; I almost skipped this deal because of it. Because of the price I took a chance and I'm glad I did.

The steps on the pricier one just has beauty rings around them and doesn't provide any additional reinforcement. This compact one has metal steps as well, that's why its weight rating is the same.
