$1700 feels like a LOT to pay for a smartphone though. I've always been nervous though about the long term conditions of the internal screen with it being plastic and folding constantly - how's your luck with them been? (my personal devices have been the pixel series going back to the nexus 6p).

I've only had one Fold4 have the internal screen protector start to come off. Samsung sent me a new unit via warranty. OnePlus Open has given me 0 issues for the past year of daily abuse. I didn't mind the narrower size of the Fold series but camera was atrocious imo with the Open having much better results. You can find them on a good deal now that it's been a year

I too am interested but price of these devices as a phone looks too much. I am not saying it wouldn't cost them to manufacture but surely they have to come down to a reasonable and affordable level.

Fold seven appears to have significant upgrades. It will be interested in to see in July when it comes out

These things depreciate like crazy. Get a fold 4 for 350 bucks and call it a day if you wanna try a fold imo.

Great price for unlocked latest fold. The color is a problem and the fact that the new one will be so much better. The fold is about to get a major redesign which imo will make it better. I've had my eye on a fold but keep sticking to candy bar ultras. Maybe the 7 will finally be too enticing.

Same here. OnePlus is phenomenal. I wish some of the OneUI features were present, but other than that I'm very very satisfied.

At the same time, very disappointed that the Open 2 isn't coming stateside. I'm too hesitant to purchase the global version for warranty purposes.

Same! I was hyped for Open 2 but I guess I'll save the money and keep the Open for another year.

OneUI features are great and I miss the added customization but Open Canvas and rootability is great for me so

I haven't rooted, but don't feel the need to. If the Fold 7 ends up being all it's cracked up to be, I may switch back. 😕
