From my understanding there will be a Japan-specific region locked Switch 2 (likely to combat scalpers) but the rest of the systems manufactured will be region free.

No. The switch 1 and games are not region locked. And the switch 2 will have a cheaper priced system in Japan only that will be region locked(supposedly)

Is this hard and does it get old? I haven't played too many action rpgs except paper marios and ffvii remake or whatever it's called but this reviews well.

50+ hours is a long game

Yea this is a long game, I'm not sure how it's changed from the original Wii U game but in the original you had to play 100 hrs before you even get a skell (robot) and then there is still a lot to do afterwards. If you end up liking the game it's actually a blast and worth the time you put into it but if you don't like the game mechanics than you will just hate it.

They've added some nice quality of life improvements to help speed up the game and the leveling progress. Like fast travel and a red orb that shows you exactly where to go. The game is drop dead gorgeous for a switch game. I'm about 20hrs in and have leveled up to rank 16.
