PSA: Looks like total wireless changed the policy from 60 days after activation to 60 days of active service. This went in to effect April 1st 2025.

Good phone and good deal.

The a35 is good, and is likely the last of the "good" Samsung a-series phones with an SD slot. The a36 and a56 don't have them.

I got the previous (nearly identical) a54 deal and was very happy with it. The two phones are architecturally almost identical (same processors and ram). It's not a speed demon, but is fast enough to do all "normal" stuff, like social media, email, phone, etc... without any real performance problems. Maybe a gamer would be disappointed with it, and it will be getting OneUI 7 very, very soon.

Wow.

Porting in a number is a hassle -- if you don't already have a phone number.

The whole ID verification is just...how do the kids say it nowadays...."totes wack".

No idea how they're storing your image and credentials -- or who has access to them -- or what the process is for them to expunge that data -- or who is ensuring they're following best practices.

Oh who am I kidding, your DL and image are being sold to the highest bidder. We all know that.

Yes it's due to arrive today
Once it's shipped usually a 2nd can be ordered but maybe now it has to show a current active line on account. Try later after you've activated the first one?

Does anyone know what will happen if you never put the total sim in the Samsung A35 and use it with service provider outside of USA? Will total charge me the full price of the phone? Will the phone be still unlocked? Any idea.

Phone has to be activated with SIM to start unlock time.
Phone is locked & requires 60 days service before it can be used on other providers.

Assume this deal is dead since "add to cart" is greyed out and does not allow you to select?

FYI, I entered phone number to be transferred in, put the security code in and see the green check mark but add to cart is not working?

If you have chase credit cards, check your merchant offers if you have the 25% off TW service (max $15). I have it on a few cards which will help lowering the overall cost now that we need 2mo of service.

I had one phone activated March 28 and another phone activated on April 5. I'm not going to deal with the hassle of seeing if one of the phones gets unlocked and the other phone not unlocked. I downgraded the $55 plan down to the $40 plan for both phones so after discount and $5 each autopay option the total was $65. Them changing policys the last minute and not updating their site until a couple days ago is lame.
how do you get discount for auto pay on $40 plan. I am not getting and agent told discount is for only $55 and $60 plan.

That's what I am thinking now. Chase Sapphire and Chase Prime Visa both seem to have 25% one time use offers.

Yeah I tried porting in a couple different numbers but I got alert can't process transaction at this time try again later or call message
EDIT.. it looks like I had a phone in my cart in another browser that was causing the issue so I'm able to get the A35 in the cart for free. The problem is, this is my second line and I was hoping to get service for just $30 but I'm not seeing the discount for extra line

I forgot to turn on auto pay for my first month of service and I was billed 55 instead of 50. I see I can switch to a $40 plan for my second month. Am I able to add auto-pay discount on the $40 plan and take it to 35 dollars? If not then there's only a $10 difference between these two plans. How do I redeem the Disney Plus add free subscription that comes with $50 plan? The Disney subscription ends when I end my total Wireless account I presume

Is there any a56 deals?

No SD card on the a56. I'd rather have this.

You go ahead to pick the $55 plan, then next, at checkout you will see the discounted price $30 in red.

I wasn't charged tax on either phone purchase, but it showed taxes in the plan purchases that were built into the $65 and $55 charges. For the iphone deal it was $264.99 (199.99 for the phone) total, and the A35 was $55 total. They didn't prorate anything, but when I talked to customer service after I placed the online order, they said there would be a credit in my wallet on my account. Not sure if they really know what they're talking about, but I think it will be prorated based on when I actually activate the phone.
Thanks for your reply. Sorry for the delay in responding. I've been trying to find more info. It's good to know there will be no tax on that phone. I believe you are right about getting prorated credit in your wallet that will be used on your next refill. At least, that's what I think, too. An issue with adding a second line if you only want to keep Total Wireless service for 60 days to unlock the phone, is that they force the second phone to be on the same billing cycle as the first phone, so all phones on your account will have the same service end date and be billed at the same time. If you add another line before the current service end date, you will pay for that phone for the number of days up until the current service date of your account, and then your new phone will sync up to the normal billing cycle. As you can see, you will pay for 60 days plus the number of days until the current service end date until the phone unlocks. Paying for more than 60 days is offset somewhat by getting a discount rate for multiple lines. If at all possible, to minimize cost, it's probably best to activate another line close to the service end date of your account if your only goal is to unlock a new phone and then stop service for that phone. An alternative is to create another account using a different email and you can pay for only 60 days separate from your other account.

I got the A35 early february and tuesday was my 60days. phone showed network lock status as -unlocked in 'more connection settings". I rebooted with a working sim and calls and internet worked fine. I guess if you did purchase it before the unlock policy change you can still unlock it with just 30days paid service/60 days total.
Another thing I've noticed with both Metro/Tmo and TF/Verizon Androids, and I think at least one iPhone is they won't always auto unlock until you put a different carrier's sim card in them.
