Okay... seriously though... We *are* extremely tight-budgeted (in our house...) And actually, there are times I'm quite short on cash - there's only so far a dollar goes. It kind of becomes like a game or puzzle, and often (most) times I buy things we don't need, or things in quantities that we don't need *right then* because of the particular deal.

Some things I "buy" because it may be something that gives overage with coupons or after gift cards - if so, you darned well bet I'll be trying to get what I can so that the overage pays for the stuff we *do* need (like fruit, veggies, meats, meds). It could be something that is uber cheap or free after coupons that we use a lot of in this house. Peanut butter & oatmeal - stuff like that will be bought in quantity to stockpile through the next deal or two - first because it lasts a while and secondly because we do use it in quantity.

Then there are things that I buy because people I know buy it and will pay me for my time and effort to get it for them at a cheaper-than-retail price. I make a little "profit" off of it that goes back into our budget, and they get something for less than they'd normally pay when shopping - win/win. I also buy things because they make great items for donations. I can't tell you how many trunk loads of stuff we've taken to folks in need. It's an amazing thing to help someone else out when they are down, and it has become like a little care-giving/deaconal ministry for us and our family.

But, it is often all about how you Juggle your cash, coupons, and gc. (and your stockpile) There are months or weeks that it's super easy - and others that are thin or totally wipe out your budget and gc. There are deals that you miss, deals you hit grand slams on, and deals you don't care one bit about.

And around here, when you "buy" something, you usually aren't "paying" with all your cash...

and in the rest of life...

Oy... my legs HURT today. I don't know if it's cuz I haven't hardly been up and on them, or what. I heard my little toddler get up, holler, then nothing. Oldest came down and said she had fallen back asleep! I think memorial day wore her out big time! It's been a long time since she's slept in this late - I'm enjoying it...

DH and our toddler are in a wedding on Thursday for our dear friends. DH just found out that they are supposed to be there at 4 for pics, and my oldest just said they were saying maybe 3 for the girls. OY... My doc appt is at 1, and I think the wedding is a good 45min - 1 hr away. This will be an interesting day - unless they put me on longer bedrest, then I guess it won't matter since I won't be traveling! I think hubby is a bit stressed out because he didn't know he'd have to get off early from work - so he's not requested time off before hand. I think he's a little worried about having to ask off with a short notice. And, of course, he's worried about me. Oh, the little trials and troubles of each day, eh? Wish I could alleviate some of his stress!

Not much going on otherwise - just hanging out today and living through ya'lls windshield runs!! Smilie

Exactly.. It is often a game of overage, gift cards, stuff to sell.. Most of what I bring home isn't stuff I actually need or want. Kinda like when I started at CVS, I would just get what I actually wanted, then I figured out to maximize the deals, you must get alot of things you don't need.. which would explain my massive amounts of glucose monitors. Took awhile to explain that to DH.. Then he got it. Now, doesn't even question all of the weird things.. depends, dulcolax, prep h, cat food, and just this week I have been coming home with sominex and vivarin in the same bag from publix. Told my DH that the cashiers must find it funny I am buying something for sleep and something to keep you awake in the same cart.Big Grin
But yeah, If I were paying in cash rather than gift cards at target, extra bucks at cvs, or RR at walgreens, it would be a different story.
