oh, and btw...what does it mean in your siggy "all the hours i spent watching LOST"?????
Yay for being able to go off the supplements!
As for my Thai dinner... :hi de: DH had to meet with someone after work, so since he wouldn't be home I totally wimped out and had DD cook - she made shrimp alfredo. ; )
And definitely less expensive to make at home than eat out! I would highly suggest finding a local asian market if you don't go to one now. They are soooooo helpful and a lot cheaper in the produce and spices that you'll need. I still get things like chili paste and soy sauce at the grocery when I can get overage, but there are things that you can't get as easily or are just so overpriced at the grocery that I'm not even willing to spend overage on it. *laugh* I usually find coconut milk for 1/2 price what they charge in the grocery store!
I need to go look at the aveeno again in Deals - couldn't find any at my stores. What are the lipton peelies??
So, I went today and it turned out to be an unintentional ST$^#^$C run. I'm not sure how, I'm almost afraid to look at the receipt and figure it out, though I did use pretty much 1 TQ +1 MQ for everything I could!!
I got in the mail a 4th of july T mailer - had a $5/50 q on the front, and it has a Gold N Plump chicken TQ inside for $1.00/1 - used that on some chicken thighs today. Yay.
Which Britax was clearanced recently? There's one lonely britax at my store, and I couldn't find a tag on it or a barcode that would scan. I would so love to get it if it's "the one" - it'd be one of my first major clearance finds!!!
On the Aveeno I guess the body wash is TPC to $1.xx and so super cheap with current Qs.
I haven't gotten a mailer in over a year!
I am so glad his iron went up and we don't have to test for blood disorders!!!! YA!!!

dazz, about the TVC, he either swiped it twice, or someone put an already activated one back in the display. It gives that message because they aren't reload-able. Did you keep it?
RJen, I'll look for the lipton peelies for you this weekend when I'm out.

abandoned property [getlegal.com]:
The only reason I continue to post about this is that I know there are people on here, including myself, who do dumpster/recycling dive.
We all know how often words like "fraud!" and "illegal!" are tossed around wrt completely valid coupon use. IMHO, this is somewhat similar.
Now, let's get back to the poop ....

For tips at garage sales - have plenty of "helpers" aka eyes on the merch... Also, keep some receipts nearby so that if the cops show up then you can prove it's not stolen. Stick to your prices - be firm about no haggling.
But... then there are some that aren't quite as formidable - like the ones in a few parking lots. Maybe I'll try my hand at dumpster diving after all. Well, maybe once the baby is born. Could you imagine if I got stuck or hung up half in and out of a dumpster and ready to burst??

- Don't sell yourself short. Just because you spent pennies (or less!) on it doesn't mean you have to mark it for .50. Your time and effort make your items valuable, so price them accordingly. The prices in the GS thread are a great starting point.
- Don't haggle with people, unless they're buying a significant amount from you (for me, its $20+). If you've priced well, then they are getting a deal anyway.
- Make sure its set up neatly. This goes a long way in establishing credibility. Keep like items together, keep them orderly throughout the sale.
Those are just a few tips that have worked well for me. Mainly, have fun doing it, and earning the money!!
Actually, the whole principle of "abandoned property" is why the police do not need either a search warrant nor consent to look through someone's garbage.
Yes, they are. But this is one that's pretty well settled.

1). Early sales are 3 times the price (kills the early birds that want to wake you at 6am)
2). My prices are roughly half that of (name your store). If you can buy it cheaper somewhere else, please do (ie, don't haggle).
Freebies help with sales. Get a free _____ when you buy $20 worth, etc.
M2C had a great idea with her DS... I think he sold Water in a color (with ice) and he was SO PROUD of the $$ he made.

A few tips I have picked up. Sell pop. Plan and simple. Put out some big coolers or a kiddy pool, fill it with ice, and throw a bunch of pop in there. People doing garage sales are often out all day, it is hot, they are thirsty, BAM. I know right now at walmart our 24 packs are $5. Price the cans at 50 cents each and make $7 profit from each one (or a little less if you factor in ice). Or do it with a LOT of SoBe in there, and make 100% profit on it...ha. I know I have picked up 60 bottles of that.
If it's around lunch time, same idea, have the grill nearby, fire it up, have hotdogs, buns and then the simple ketchup and mustard. 50cents - $1 each, whatever you can make profit with it. Factor in your fuel usage. Extra points for the small bags of chips.
Kids love hotdogs and pop and are often along with the parents, and if it keeps them quiet for a bit, people will buy. You can make pretty good money from this.
