I've always had a thing for eating pigs... but that's just me... :dro ol: : D
Yay for being able to go off the supplements!

As for my Thai dinner... :hi de: DH had to meet with someone after work, so since he wouldn't be home I totally wimped out and had DD cook - she made shrimp alfredo. ; )

And definitely less expensive to make at home than eat out! I would highly suggest finding a local asian market if you don't go to one now. They are soooooo helpful and a lot cheaper in the produce and spices that you'll need. I still get things like chili paste and soy sauce at the grocery when I can get overage, but there are things that you can't get as easily or are just so overpriced at the grocery that I'm not even willing to spend overage on it. *laugh* I usually find coconut milk for 1/2 price what they charge in the grocery store!

I need to go look at the aveeno again in Deals - couldn't find any at my stores. What are the lipton peelies??

So, I went today and it turned out to be an unintentional ST$^#^$C run. I'm not sure how, I'm almost afraid to look at the receipt and figure it out, though I did use pretty much 1 TQ +1 MQ for everything I could!!

I got in the mail a 4th of july T mailer - had a $5/50 q on the front, and it has a Gold N Plump chicken TQ inside for $1.00/1 - used that on some chicken thighs today. Yay.

Which Britax was clearanced recently? There's one lonely britax at my store, and I couldn't find a tag on it or a barcode that would scan. I would so love to get it if it's "the one" - it'd be one of my first major clearance finds!!!
I love pigs too. They are cute & yummy, if I had a farm I would want some piga and a few cattle too. I am afraid I might grow to attached to them to eat them though. Good tip for finding the asian foods, yeah coconut milk is way to much at the gorcery store not to mention some of the other stuffs I need! Oh well, the shrip sounds delish and another day another chance for thia. Wink

On the Aveeno I guess the body wash is TPC to $1.xx and so super cheap with current Qs.

I haven't gotten a mailer in over a year! Frown

I am so glad his iron went up and we don't have to test for blood disorders!!!! YA!!!

OMG I would have a heart attack I think!!! "This Customer"? How the heck would they know which customer?

So I was just at a grocery store making some payments at the bank inside and go look at the seafood and they have their fist shippment of fresh alantic salmon from the Copper River drool and it is on SALE for $14.99 a pound, reg $25 a pound!! I got two small fillets for DH and I and a few farm raised for the kids, only $8.99 a pound.

I found a tearpad for FREE Bread WYB 3 cans Hormel Chicken, Turkey, or Ham (up to $1.50). It is coded to Hormel.
37600 23142 exp 12/10
I think 42 is buy 3 or more get $1 off. I have never noticed bread at $1 laugh out loud Strange coupon but we could use some canned chicken to stock up the panrty. Does T carry Hormel?

I found a tearpad for $1/1 any Nutella 13oz or larger exp 12/10

If any of you are interested in these Qs I did find a *few* extra.

dazz, about the TVC, he either swiped it twice, or someone put an already activated one back in the display. It gives that message because they aren't reload-able. Did you keep it?

RJen, I'll look for the lipton peelies for you this weekend when I'm out.

Exact same thing happened to me last week. Mine was one that I had from earlier in the year when they were only at select stores. It was not from this store and I am 100% sure it was not activated. I just grabbed another one of the shelf and it scanned through just fine.

LOL prob easier to clean the butt than the floor! And I *think* that there is no expectation of privacy by the person who threw away the trash - that is true - however one's right to peruse someone else's garbage is questionable ... you might have to have a badge in order to do that without question Wink
Actually, the whole principle of "abandoned property" is why the police do not need either a search warrant nor consent to look through someone's garbage.

Quote :
Yes - I would be worried about trying it there ---- the whole who has the right to go through the garbage may not actually overlap in a logical way with the whole no expectation of privacy thing. Laws are odd things!
Yes, they are. But this is one that's pretty well settled.

abandoned property [getlegal.com]:
property to which the owner has relinquished all rights. When property is abandoned, the owner gives up the reasonable expectation of privacy concerning it. The finder of abandoned property is entitled to keep it, and a police officer may take possession of abandoned property as evidence without violating the Fourth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution.

The only reason I continue to post about this is that I know there are people on here, including myself, who do dumpster/recycling dive.

We all know how often words like "fraud!" and "illegal!" are tossed around wrt completely valid coupon use. IMHO, this is somewhat similar.

Kind of my little gripe by being ISO of the hours I spent watching it... never missed a show! I wasn't fond of the ending... Not that I would proclaim to know how to end it or if there would be an ending that would totally satisfy me. Wink

Oy! I hope it goes well for you (and your windows) sake. Then again, maybe you could bribe Thrift to send her hubby over to install the windows (I think he's been doing theirs, so he's probably an expert by now!) You and Thrift could do a round at the T stores, bring back plenty of beer and pizza and a couple of visas for the guys, and call it a day... lol.

For tips at garage sales - have plenty of "helpers" aka eyes on the merch... Also, keep some receipts nearby so that if the cops show up then you can prove it's not stolen. Stick to your prices - be firm about no haggling.

True, true... It's just one of those weird/touchy things for some folks. I have no clue about legality issues, all I know is that in my early days of couponing I called (that was before I knew the whole "no calling" rule... *laugh*) the recycling center and asked about going through the dumpsters and the dude pretty much scared me to pieces. Also, many of the ones around here are set up in a caged in area and even have a trailer that sometimes has someone sitting inside or they have surveillance cameras. Very weird and skeery. I wonder why they lock/surveil some dumpsters. Is it to keep the garbage in, or to keep people out??

But... then there are some that aren't quite as formidable - like the ones in a few parking lots. Maybe I'll try my hand at dumpster diving after all. Well, maybe once the baby is born. Could you imagine if I got stuck or hung up half in and out of a dumpster and ready to burst?? laugh out loud

Some tips:

- Don't sell yourself short. Just because you spent pennies (or less!) on it doesn't mean you have to mark it for .50. Your time and effort make your items valuable, so price them accordingly. The prices in the GS thread are a great starting point.

- Don't haggle with people, unless they're buying a significant amount from you (for me, its $20+). If you've priced well, then they are getting a deal anyway.

- Make sure its set up neatly. This goes a long way in establishing credibility. Keep like items together, keep them orderly throughout the sale.

Those are just a few tips that have worked well for me. Mainly, have fun doing it, and earning the money!! Big Grin

I have a question. Not sure if you know or not, but if recycling dumpsters are set up as a fundraising effort (for a high school in this instance), is it considered stealing from them to take the inserts? I always bring my newspapers there, so I am contributing, not just taking, I just don't want to get in trouble if someone should try and question me. There are about 7 dumpsters set up, none of them locked, and as far as I know, there's no security cameras. And there are no signs prohibiting dumpster diving or anything, so I am assuming its ok. Its just the aspect of the fundraiser thing that stumps me.

Post two signs:
1). Early sales are 3 times the price (kills the early birds that want to wake you at 6am)
2). My prices are roughly half that of (name your store). If you can buy it cheaper somewhere else, please do (ie, don't haggle).

Freebies help with sales. Get a free _____ when you buy $20 worth, etc.

M2C had a great idea with her DS... I think he sold Water in a color (with ice) and he was SO PROUD of the $$ he made.

This is the same way it is here, but when I found out they were getting less than 10 cents for 50 lbs (literally), I didn't worry about it. If they stop me, I'll hand them 50 cents for what little I took (knowing that I left them over 100 lbs of papers to start with).

my mom usually does a huge GS and has the same people coming back every year for it.

A few tips I have picked up. Sell pop. Plan and simple. Put out some big coolers or a kiddy pool, fill it with ice, and throw a bunch of pop in there. People doing garage sales are often out all day, it is hot, they are thirsty, BAM. I know right now at walmart our 24 packs are $5. Price the cans at 50 cents each and make $7 profit from each one (or a little less if you factor in ice). Or do it with a LOT of SoBe in there, and make 100% profit on it...ha. I know I have picked up 60 bottles of that.

If it's around lunch time, same idea, have the grill nearby, fire it up, have hotdogs, buns and then the simple ketchup and mustard. 50cents - $1 each, whatever you can make profit with it. Factor in your fuel usage. Extra points for the small bags of chips.

Kids love hotdogs and pop and are often along with the parents, and if it keeps them quiet for a bit, people will buy. You can make pretty good money from this.

Has anyone used the Toy Story toy TQs? Some of the toys are on sale this week, so I'm thinking it'd be a pretty decent deal with the appropriate accompanying Qs.

Just be careful if you are selling un-packaged food (i.e. grilled hot dogs) if you get a cranky or nosey neighbor/buyer - you could have a call put into the health dept. and them at your door for not having a food permit. *Most* times that won't happen... but it *could*. It's usually a fine and a small fee, and nothing to really panic about, but it is a hassle.
