If there no medical need for it, and it's her first, I'd wait it out. I agree with you, why put that strain on her for no reason?
That said, my fourth and last baby, my OB was like that. Every appt I kindly refused his suggestion of planning her delivery. Keep in mind, I had to be induced with my other three babies so I knew my chances of spontaneous labor were slim. I went into labor on my own the day before her due date.

I have an abundance of them and grilling them/baking them is getting OLD quick!!! TIA
I was told by a nurse that 90% of that doctor's babies were born on Tues thru Thursday. They like their weekends free. The doctor tried to spin it like it would be easier on me - i.e. I could schedule time off of work, daycare, family to come visit, yada yada. I had to laugh cuz I am a SAHM - so most of those reasons didn't even matter. I didn't go back to that doc after having my last one.
Besides, I personally think that induced labor is more painful. And who knows what it really does to the body - there's a whole cycle of pregnancy for a reason.

You could pound it thin and wrap it around some filling - maybe a stuffing or some kind of cream cheese mix.
Then there's always the sauerkraut and pork route. Just throw in a crock pot with some kraut and cook for a long long time.

Thanks! Good ideas!

I waited until much closer to the due date to make any decision and as my son was already quite large according to ultrasounds I chose to try to induce. Though it actually didn't work. They had me on the highest dose possible and I was barely having the occasional cramp that wasn't even painful. They said at the dose I was at they should have been scraping me off the ceiling. Ultimately I had a C-Section a few days before she left for vacation. But my reasoning was a combination of his size (9#11oz), the fact I had pre-eclampsia and to a degree that I wanted my doctor their just in case their were complications.
Even with my experience, I would be VERY Leary of a doctor forcing a decision like that so early.

Gotta go take the ribs out of the freezer and get stuff ready for tomorrow, and clean my house too!
