These non-inverter generators use a rotating machine to create the sine wave power, so it is a true sine wave output. However, since it is driven by a combustion motor the frequency can vary. My Westinghouse of the same size runs everything I need... battery backups, router, computers, central AC, furnace, fridge, TV etc. The only issue I had is that the frequency was set to around 63 hz and my battery backup complained. I used a screwdriver and adjusted the frequency (using the built-in display) til it was centered on 60hz and then the battery backup was happy. Occasionally the frequency would vary when a heavy load came on or off and the battery backup would momentarily beep, but would quickly recover and keep everything running. I recommend running your electronics on a battery backup anyway, and in this case it smooths out any issues with generator variation.

I purchased two of these from Costco in 2022 and installed one at my home and one at my sons. Other than routinely starting to keep the battery charged. Then Hurricane Helene came last September. They both ran for 8 days straight without a hitch. We both have natural gas service. We used extension cords to run whatever we needed. I won't go on record stating that it won't affect sensitive electronics, but it was fine for refrigerators, washing machine, microwave, etc.
At this price, I would take a chance, especially if you are blessed to have natural gas.

As what has been said in here: if you're planning on running appliances with large start-up current needs, such as your AC unit, if you also need to run things like tvs and video game consoles, grab a small battery backup ("solar generator") or something which can act as a 'buffer'. luckily I have a 1kwh bluetti I got on a sale here last year. I can keep it fully charged while passing the power through to my steam deck and internet modem.

now to weld a frame for it so it doesn't decide to go traveling.

I bought a smaller Firman generator from Firman on eBay, certified refurbished. This one and that one both have a 2 year warranty through Allstate.

Look at the details under the heading "Shop with Confidence." It says a two-year warranty is provided by Allstate.

Aha, I missed it. Thank you for pointing out that.

At Costco, T07573 may be newer model shows Product Features Automatic Voltage Regulation. Not sure if that takes care of dirty power.

Thanks,. OP, but I would avoid these like the plague. I bought a similar refurb that ran for less than an hour before dying, never to work again. Firman was less than useful. The only saving grace was that it came with an extended warranty, so I was able to get a refund.

I have had this for 5 years. Used it on several power outages and it ran EVERYTHING in my 2300 sq. ft. house flawlessly. That being said, I do not have central A/C so not sure if it can handle that. It is very loud but I enclosed it in a suncast storage shed that I added insulation, an intake vent, and an electric exhaust fan. Youtube has numerous videos on how to do that.

EDIT: I have only ran this on propane.

It's going to vary. You actually want a no load to be 62 or 62.5 because a load (50-80%) will slow the engine to roughly 60 hz. You do not want to run less than 1000 watts continuous on this thing. For non inverter generators, you actually want to run them with a load. Inverter generators will auto throttle down, these will not....
On my Westinghouse I was able to set it to 60 hz and it maintains that under light or heavy load. The governor should automatically adjust to load.

All non inverter generators have frequency sag under 50+ load. It's nature of how they operate. If your generator is working properly, it will drop by a max of 4 hz or less at full load. I.e. on my 7000w genny , it is 62 hz with no load and drops to 58hz with 6500watts (you don't want to run that close to max rated for very long. Some ups allow you to decrease the hertz fluctuation. This is where inverter generators shine because they are constant 60hz regardless of load

Slightly OT but how was noise factor after your storage shed mods? Been thinking about this for a while, maybe pouring a small concrete pad with an anchor point so I can chain up the genny to it, and just put it on "other" side of the house where you can't really see it (that's where my electric service comes into the breaker box anyway). My house is big and the bedrooms are far away from this point but I'd rather not tick off the neighbors needlessly...

It's not too bad, way better than before. I would like to modify the exhaust to come out the side and extend it upwards like a big rig truck. Maybe this summer.

Just check out YouTube. There are some very creative ideas guys have come up with.

Good luck.

EDIT: When I upgraded my electrical panel I had the electrician put in an interlock, and also run a 50A service plug to the back of my house. I bought a 50A cord on Amazon and have it plugged into the generator. It would be nice to have a remote start, but it is what it is.
