Good price for a very capable AP. Supports 160 MHz wide bands, and DFS channels. I've been running Omada for years and it's served me well.

Update: The Ethernet on this port is 1 GbE, not 2.5. Thanks pizzaguy for correcting

You are correct, he is probably confusing it with the 660 or 670 AP.

Another +1 here for Omada. I've been using EAP225s for many years with nary a hiccup. Recently upgraded to 660 and 610. They are all super fast and stable. I see a lot of folks going with Ubiquiti, but IMO Omada is really underrated.
My only gripe with the design of these is that the cable is exposed and quite visible unless you really kink the cable during installation.

Where's the obligatory "Aren't these / TP-Link products getting banned?" posts at? Also, love these EAPs - I have a 683LR as my main, and 670 as a mesh - planning to wire the EAP670 in the near future when I have time.

It just gives you more total bandwidth to transfer when multiple clients are involved within the network. If you dont transfer large files or dont have a lot of IN HOME streaming through a NAS, not a big deal to keep them on 1GB. The gains happen when you heavily tax the internal network, not really from normal usage.

A NAS sees huge benefits when you just change them from 1gb to 2.5 5 or 10gb port, performance in transfer speeds jumps exponential, even with spinners.

I am looking to upgrade my ereo to a new mesh that can handle multiple vlans and be better managed. Maybe through opnsense.

They will work like a normal dumb AP by just hardwiring them to your main ereo ports, (will still need POE or a POE Injector for power). If you want advanced features (centralized management, unified configuration, roaming, and remote access capabilities) you would need to use their free cloud controller on a desktop computer or you could buy a hardware version for about $70-$100 last I checked.

If you have enough ports, you can connect them directly through whatever router you're using. If you're going to be running multiple APs, you'll need to either purchase the Omada hardware controller, run your own on a PC with their free software version (that's what I do), or purchase a more hefty router like the TP-Link ER7212PC which has the controller built in. I personally use their cheap router ER605 V2 with 2 EAP610 APs. I use PoE+ injectors to power the APs since my router and switch doesn't have PoE+ capabilities. If you need to use a switch and you want to maintain VLAN capabilities, you'll want to also purchase an Omada managed switch.

*note, these APs are not wireless mesh capable. They are access points that you need to directly connect via ethernet cable to either your router or a switch and then power them either through the included AC adapter or ideally PoE+ options.

Also using these with Pfsense/opnsense would definitely work as well and then you wouldn't need an Omada router. You'll just need to also run the Omada software or hardware controller as well if using multiple APs.

The 653 has lower transmit power than the 650. The 650 is a better AP.
