LOL that's not really correct... Premium stuff can have up to 50% more additives and a better, cleaner VM. Yes there are mainly 4 large additive companies (many more medium and smaller) but let's take the biggest of those 4, Lubrizol. They sell many different additive packages so just because many blenders buy from them doesn't mean they buy the same package.

The stuff sold at a price point (bargain basement) will meet API SP and dexos1 will have a treat rate of about 8.5% wt in the engine oil. Treat rate is the focus for products sold under a bid as the additive is sold by the ton, the less you use the cheaper the product. The more premium stuff will meet ACEA, MB 229, VW 501, etc. and have a treat rate of closer to 13%.

Now the clincher for me is that cheap additive package will pair with a cheap viscosity modifier (VM), the stuff that makes it a 0W-xx, usually some olefin copolymer (OCP). These are what I refer to as dirty polymers because they tend to leave more deposits as they break down (piston walls, skirts, rings, turbo bearings).

Those premium packages because they need to pass more stringent Euro specs will use a styrenic type polymer usually a star polymer which is a cleaner and more shear stable VM. This helps us keep the pistons cleaner = less scuffing, blow by, better power, better fuel economy, and these days more importantly a cleaner turbo as those are very hard on oil.

In the end the cheap stuff will not kill your engine, but much like living on ramen noodles and McDonalds it isn't going to make that engine stay at like new performance. I used to formulate this stuff before I retired so happy to answer questions.

You can use 0w-20 just fine. Heck same motor outside the US calls for up to 5w-30

Lower viscosity in the US is for CAFE reasons, not motor longevity.

Did this last time and just finally used up the last of it after 3 years. I've decided it's worth the extra $20-$30 to just buy in real time.

Ordered (2). Have 3 Hondas that use 0W-20. 2 of them suffer from oil dilution so I need to make sure I change the oil every 6 months or 5000 miles (whichever comes first).
I've been doing 5k changes on all our cars from the moment I bought new, regardless of what manufacturer spec say. I do one at 1k miles, then every 5k afterwards. Cheap insurance if you do your own changes, especially at these prices.

wtf r u going on about? The owners manual just sits in the glove compartment. I even have 'em in 2-decade old cars I buy/sell. Everybody has 'em, they just don't peruse.

This is above mid grade oil . This oil and Walmarts oil is just as good as AMSOIL and royal purple. If you Don't believe me , believe speed lake jr.

There are only 4 companies in the world that make the additives that go in oil.

Correct. It's not about Warren but moreso the additives. This applies to gasoline as well, Costco adds their own "cocktail" of additives to make their gas officially Top Tier certified

We have a 2005 Camry that's still running fine. Been in the shop a couple times for a steering rack and evap canister, besides that, I've done all the maintenance/repairs on our vehicles. Toyotas are just so easy to work on and last for years.

Go with 5w-30 instead. Not gonna make any difference at all. The 30 is the important number and lower Winter side isn't gonna hurt anything. Might help less wear on startup.

Wow. Yeah, it's all about mpgs. I would worry long term. Time will tell with the new Toyota trucks how it will impact the Toyota name. I would suspect the camry and rav still have longevity.

Then stop being lazy. Go take 5 secs to search for the manual online to check what kind of oil it takes. So many people need to be spoon fed these days.

I would hope a 2025 is still running fine. I have one as well and no issues at 3500 miles.

I have seen a lot of my customers with issues on newer Toyotas.
They have had a lot of growing pains in the last 5 or so years. My worry is not just now but 10+years/100k+ from now.

Even Honda has had issues. So no manufacture is immune but some think old Toyota is the same as new.
