I don't think the 10% off code I've been sharing works on the 9a since it's a "new product launch." I think it will only work on Pixel 9, 9 Pro, 9 Fold, and 8a. If anyone is interested, I can DM a 10% off code.

They issue the Google Store Credit once the device ships. You could use your credit to buy hers, but you will need to wait to order the second phone (hers) for a few days until the first phone ships.

Just out of curiosity, what are some of y'all's thoughts on if this phone would be considered to be an upgrade, coming from the Pixel 8? Would the 9a likely be a better phone? Or, as I suspect, would the 9a probably be something of a downgrade, compared to the standard Pixel 8 phone?

I see it more as a "side-grade." I ordered a 9a to update my "backup phone" as I had an old Pixel 4a in a nightstand drawer. My wife has a Pixel 8 and I'll see if this is a better device for her. I know the battery life on the 9a will probably be the best of any Pixel as they put in the largest battery 5100mAh into the 9a. The screen is also a bit brighter than the P8. Charging is slower on the 9a vs the 8, and the bezzles are larger on the 9a. The rear of the phone is plastic on the 9a vs glass on the 8. They both use the same modem and have the same amount or RAM, the 9a has 1 gen newer processor (but I think it will be more throttled than the Tensor G4 in the 9/9 Pro).
